Ry Cooder is on tour this year mostly in the western U.S. He was best early in his career covering delta blues greats. A very accomplished mandolin and bottleneck guitar player. I've listened to him since 1970 when he came out with his first album,he used Jim Dickinson from Memphis later, the father of Cody and Luther (North Mississippi allstars) on piano and always had the best players.Never got airplay but musicians knew about Ry.Getting stoned outside of peanuts pub in the early 70's with Dickinson and he's telling us about a family member that had a guitar that had been in a case for over 20 years and was still in tune when they opened it up, watching Mud Boy and The Neutrons with Sid Selvidge, most of the band members have passed.

I was right there with Ry along with the slack-string Hawaiians and Flaco Jiminez and the Mex-Tex Zideco, but he lost me when he submerged with the flambouyant Cubans.
