Chuck Berry Dead at 90

Don't give me this "Elvis was the King of Rock & Roll" sh!t.

If it wasn't for Chuck, The Beatles and Rolling Stones would never have evolved.  And that's a FACT Jack.

Some credit him for inventing and popularizing the "Duckwalk", used by many guitarists to this day

CHUCK BERRY WILL BE MISSED.  1 OF THE PIONEERS OF ROCK AND ROLL.  I REMEMBER THE DUCK WALK HE DID ON STAG

I remember as a kid my school banned his Ding-A-Ling song, the only #1 hit he had

His mother told him,

And you will be the leader of a big old band.

 Agree with all you said Goose. What would Keith Richards have had w/out Chuck ??       I love his early stuff with Johnny Johnson on piano .That stuff is Gold....                .   And the one time I saw him live(  1987 @ Lake Compounce in Bristol,CT ) he was Solid.

I went to a Chuck Berry concert in the early 90's at Rancho Los Amigos hospiital in Downey California.A race track teller from Los Alamitos race track gave me tickets. That man should play the strings! God speed! May his soul be blessed with safe passage. RIP.

I am certain that i used to own a lp ( bootleg ? ) of him and Steve Miller. 

Long long ago he played in basically our neck of the woods, we were going to sneak in which only required getting a little wet depending on the tide. For whatever reason we decided not to. Now on the main road ( two lane ) within a 5 mile stretch there were two 7-11's and both were sold out of papers and corn cob pipes.

I remember a SNL skit where NASA sent a disk into outer space, to see if alien life can discover/learn about Earth. All sorts of sounds/words/pictures were encoded/drawn on the disk. For music, a sample of Chuck Barry was one of the many artists included.

We also lost one helluva harmonica players, James Cotton.

Cotton dead at 81.  Berry dead at 90.

Sh!t, if I can make it to 75 I think it would be a great run.

Can't keep partying like it's 1999.  Or can I?

Sad news indeed. Everything he did, did with heart. I'll miss him.
