Beatles voted #1......

 ......on the VH1 poll...........I have no problem with it. The only thing I disagree with is having people that were born after 1985 voting on it..............Pink Floyd #18? OK.......but not behind Madonna! Prince #4? Fuck off.............

 I'm getting old.......but one of the benefits of being my age is that I got to see the greatest evolution of rock ever..........I had older siblings & I remember listening to the Beatles early albums on record players (not stereos). The only guy I wish I would've seen was Elvis......not because I particularly like his music, but just to see the fanfare. But hell, I don't wanna be that old.

Mugg, I agree Prince shouldn't be #4 and I have never really got into his music, but the guy is an unreal musician. Very talented.

Can't imagine what it would have been like to sit and watch The Beatles in the Studio. I listen to recordings of them laying down tracks but man. They were special and one of a kind.

 I agree gutcheck.........Prince is talented & put out a lot of good music.......but like I said above, I'll bet over half the "musicians" I saw interviewed weren't even alive when the original PF was together............ of course that means they certainly weren't around to see The Beatles either so I have to give them SOME credit.


 Absolutely lennon...........IMO they had the single biggest impact on R&R of anyone............& all of their music is still better than most stuff put out today.

I am not a big fan of his music, but Prince was a great musician.  Purple Rain was excellent, and he wrote many songs for other artists.

I was dragged..... and yes I was screaming,kicking and crying to a Madonna concert years ago by an old girlfriend.I have to admit her back up band was top notch and I actually enjoyed the show.Prince always puts on a great live performance,glad I saw him 2 times back in his prime.But BOTH higher then Pink Floyd? Not in my world.

 I would've liked to have seen both. I've seen recorded shows of both & I can see both are great. But after seeing the "DSOTM" tour by Roger Waters I've confirmed my own thoughts/feelings about Pink Floyd & their place in rock history.

Floyd will never get full credit for being as influentual as they are.

I like all those Best lists on VH1. I usually don't agree, but they make for good tv.

Yes never gets the credit it deserves.  Not saying they're #1 or anything, but not in the Hall of Fame?

ever see the show on the making of that album?  can't remember the name of the series - behind the music maybe?  it was well done and very interesting...

 Yeah, I've seen it..............also saw a doc on the history of the band itself. Both were very good.

I understand that the Beatles were very significant but would not have them in my top 10.
