My parents went to see Neil in concert (late 70's) - forgot what album it was, but they said the concert was phenomenal.  They had his record and got it autographed, and even as a kid, I'd remember listening to it knowing it was great music.

now can recognize his greatness...that "12 Songs" album he did with Rick Rubin (produced American Songs series for Johnny Cash) was great
