"Shine On You Crazy Diamond"; buddy of mine killed himself 20 years ago, and song was played at his funeral; gets me even today. Also, "It Must Have Been the Roses" by the Grateful Dead; reminds me of someone from long ago and again, gets me even today.

Eagles: Desperado, Wasted Time, Tequila Sunrise...
Jeffrey Gaines: Hero In Me (One of my all time favorites...check it out if you can.)
Peter Himelmann: Always in Disguise
Joe Ely; I Saw it in you
Bruce Springsteen. Anything from the Darkness on the Edge of Town record, really...
Bill Morrissey Just Before we Lost the War. (NOT a political song...just a "love gone wrong song"...and DEFINTELY NOT "Morrissey" the foppish, British guy that I don't understand!
"Music.just.isn't.the.same.anymore"
Well...there is good music out there...you have to dig. I just bought the new Bob Seger disc and it's great. Also, Mark Knopfler & EmmyLou Harris have just released a good disc) But, I guess, your point is where are the new, great, singer-songwriters...

"Wide Awake" U2. Hell somebody correct me on the title of that song, it's probably one of the best they ever did. One word title and I can't think of it.
Syracuse, good call on Springsteen.

"Wish you were here"- Pink Floyd "If I had been the one"- 38 Special "Keep on lovin you"-REO Speedwagon "Unchained Melody"- Righteous Bros.
The older you get, the longer the list grows........."Drive" , "Against all Odds" & , "Bridge over troubled water" get me too. I guess we all have our reasons why.

The title of the U2 song you mentioned is "Bad". That's one of my favorites too. I don't think Bono sings that aggressive in any other song...
3 more for the list:
Frankie Valli "My Eyes Adored You" (Going back to the beginnings of Rock and Roll for this oldie)
Blue Rodeo "Rage"
"You Were Always on my Mind" (Technically a rock song; Elvis did it...but the Willie Nelson version is clearly the right choice if you want to feel miserable.)

Willie Nelson did bridge over troubled water in the Salt Lake Games closing ceremony too Syracuse, dunno if you heard it but it's a crusher - good call.
Mugg. top to bottom agree.
Phil Collins "Everyday"'
Barbara Streisand "Memories." A voice like that comes along once every century.
