over past 20 years, id say hanks, he dominated the 90s especially. deniro and pacino are great, but they have both fallen way off as of late, and their greatness spans back to the 70s, so they aren't exclusive to this generation.

sean penn is great as well, as is kevin spacey.

my personal favorite is edward norton, he is one of the best and most versatile actors today. christian bale is a rising star as well.

top 5 best actors of this generation(i am not including deniro, pacino, duvall, hoffman, nicholson, etc.)
1. hanks
2. penn
3. spacey
4. edward norton
5. dicaprio

No mention at all of Harrison Ford. All he ever does is make hugely successful movies. He's the Tim Duncan of actors. Everyone recognizes that he is very good, but no one appreciates how impressive his track record is.

Ed Norton is my favorite actor, but I've got to say Ford is the best.
