But not today. They will beat Verlander but will not win another game in this series with their pitching

FYI: Sabathia is scheduled for game 1 and 4.  Verlander is scheduled for games 1 and 5.  If Detroit loses tonight, they have a very steep uphil climb.

call me  a sucker, but for once, the yankees are a good bet at -150 for the series.....

I actually think this will be the series of the road team.... Tigers will win tonight and win with Fister on the mound... Yankess will take the next two in Detroit against Porcello and Penny and then Verlander knocks off Nova at home in Game 5 IMO.

In a short series, imo whoever wins the first game will win the series. With that said I really like the bronx bombers tonite.

Why is everyone here mentioning Penny? The rotation is Verlander, Fister, Scherzer, Porcello, Verlander.

I absolutely believe that they lose to Fister tomorrow and I wouldn't trust Burnett in game 3 if he was pitching to my niece's softball team. I forgot that the Tigers won't pitch Verlander in game 4(but it won't be Penny either) so I would obviously favor CC over whoever they throw in game 4.  You really feel comfortable with Nova and AJ? Trust me,I am a Yankee fan and I would love to see that fat pig Valverde blow a safe but I don't like our starting pitching at all after CC.

Yankees are going with a three man rotation. C.C., Nova, and Garcia.

Well I guess that is a little better than Burnett in game 3 but I still don't like their chances. I didn't look at the series rotation because I don't make series bets,just individual game bets but I thought they would throw Burnett in game 3 based on salary and old reputation anyway,glad to see I am wrong but I have zero faith in Garcia. Yanks might have to stretch out Robertson for 2 innings in games 2,3 and 5. Besides CC,Mo and Robertson I don't have any confidence in our pitching.

Doug "anal" fister has been a very good pitcher, with a filthy 0.53 era in 5 starts in september......... but at the same time, the last 8 starts you are referencing were against:

5 years ago everybody said the Tigers were Done! after losing game 1 to the NYY.

I remember them winning that series 3-1.

If they lose tonight they don't have to panic.

Verlander has a 4.50 ERA, 1.53 WHIP against the Yankees, who have hit him better than any other team in the league has. 

Just a thought.

Penny won't be pitching.  Max Scherzer is the other guy.

Finally, the voice of reason.  The way people are talking - you'd think Fister was the reincarnation of Bob Gibson.  While his numbers have been great - he hasn't faced an offense with anywhere close to the firepower the Yankees will bring.

No,I was not kidding,and so far I am right,they won the game that CC/Verlander started and lost with Garcia. Yanks are in trouble with this staff and I am a Yankee fan.
