No...he would have been toast. The ball was to shallow right and Winn didn't even need a cut-off man. Molina caught the ball up the line next to the plate.

The mistake was Harris not going on the 1-1 or 2-1 count with Guzman at the plate. The 1-1 pitch was a breaking ball almost in the dirt....Harris would have taken 2nd easily and scored if he had any sack. Nationals are a sorry bunch of fucking losers.

Just doesn't make sense.

They couldn't score the entire game and that was their BEST CHANCE of scoring and yet they didn't take it?

Why wouldn't he run and just take a chance?  Why is the 3rd base coach such a box?  Why couldn't he just say take off as fast as you could no matter what. 

This guy pulls up when the ball is WAY OFF LINE.

IF he kept running, it would be a 1-1 ball game and no Cain "shutout" headlines.

And when you tag up and run, aren't you supposed to just keep running.  Why even glance to how the ball is coming in?  It was that glance and his "read" on the ball that made him pull up like a box.  Terrible.

Harris should of just tried.  It would take a perfect throw and a quick tag in order to get him out.  It was deep enough to take a chance.  He pulled up like a bitch and next thing you know the catcher gets the ball NO WHERE close home plate.  If Harris never stopped, no way the catcher applies the tag.

The catcher caught the ball on the 3rd base line.  Harris would have been MEAT.  I share your bitterness as I got suckered into the Nationals, too.  Blame Ryan Zipperhead for swinging at the first pitch just like Matt Cain knew he would.
