Why are the yankees favored?

can anyone tell me why they are favored? i get that the yankees have a great offense and can score off anyone, but garcia has been absolutely terriblee. Anyone care to comment??

I'm staying away  - 2 bad pitchers.  I would lean yanks because their offense is hotter and home field.

NYY, when playing good, nobody can beat them. When do they start thier streak of wins?  Probably today.  That's why they are FAV's. Always have a great chance of winning.

Detriot is struggling right now but Smyly has pitched very well for them although he hasn't got a win yet he has only given up 1 run in 3 starts and he pitched 6 solid innings against Texas in his last start.  I think the Tigers jump all over Garcia and break out of their slump.

Good luck- Detroit should be the play here but it's
tough to go against the Yankees at home. 
Garcia needs to bring it today. 
Knowing the way Giraldi manages- he'll be on a short leash.

How was this at all suspect? Other than the betting public's hard-on for the Yankees?

I don't get why people automatically assume that a pitcher is terrible simply because they have never heard of him.

In games like this, teams with large fan bases will be favored.

I call it the "Cubs effect." This refers to how bookies often give the Cubs (relatively low) preseason odds of 15-1 to win it all (on years when the Cubs are average), because they have a large number of fans who are dumb enough to take it. First noticed this three years ago when the Cubs were 15-1, when they should've been like 40-1, lol.
