Since we're going to have some time off here for about a week, I want to start a discussion about something I think is important. Why does anyone bet a game, especially a baseball game before the game starts?

Let's not fool ourselves... this is a site for gambling addicts... FWIW, I enjoy live betting, that is when the lines move in my favor and overcome those opening bumps. BOL, all

I generally live bet favorites if a mishap happens early, and the line improves... something I think they will overcome. If I like a dog I will generally bet it pre-game. Disclaimer: I'm just a gambling hobbyist betting beer money. When I lose, I don't lose big, nor do I win big.

I try and take a postion on both sides at plus money. So I bet when teams are down during the game.
True value only comes after a game starts. It doesn't matter who you like or dont like. What matters is how the live line fluctuates during a game depending on the score. The line before the game starts means very little. For example you can have a -250 favorite to start the gamr and then go down 2 nothing in the second inning now hes a +250 favorite... tells me the books like the other side and had no respect for the fave to begin with...
the whole objective is to get both sides in the same game at plus money so it doesn't matter who wins.
Now finding those games and knowing which ones you think you can get both sides at plus money at comes down to knowing how to read the board live which is another story... not sure if anyone here can converse about that intelligently
but to keep it simple...
Let's just say you like one team that day... use the yankees for example... you bet them at -150 for 500 before the game starts.... they're down three zero in the bottom of the third and the line is now fluctuating from +350 to +420.... yes sure the team you like can lead from start to finish however its extremely rare when a team consistently leads throughout the game from start to finish every game...doesn't happen.... and if that game your team you like leads the whole game... great... you missed out on shitty odds with zero value and much more games to chose from.

@Martylee
I think a gambling addict lazily chooses a side before a game starts with zero value and hopes for the best... takes time and effort to read a board and understand a board live. Also takes much discipline in waiting and seeing where the advantage is..
I'd rather be on both sides at at least 3-1 odds than to be on one side at - or + whatever the gumball machine gave before the game starts.
