I  remember watching  Ichiro  break  the  hit record with  my  father  who  was  dying from  cancer.   We  determined  that  Ichiro is so  effective  because he makes  contact  and  is  so fast.   If  the  infielders  play  up  , Ichiro increases  his chances of  a hit because he  can  hit  through them .   and  if  they  play  back  to  cut  the  angles,  Ichiro  simply  is  too  fast.
 
 
Oh,  by  the  way,  I  paid  those  build the  bank guys  $100 bucks  and  they  went  0-16
