AJ, I read a theory a few years back that suggested never taking -1.5 runlines on the home team, the reasoning being that in the case of a 1 run lead in the 9th inning, they don't get their final bats.
Same thing goes for extra innings too... unless it's a 2+ run homer, most extra innings wins for the home team are only by 1.
I see you have 4 home teams to win -1.5 today. I could definitely see this happening in at least 1 of those games. Take yesterday's Cards-Pirates game. Cards are up 4-2 and pitching in the top of 9. Motte gives up 1 run to make it 4-3, at which point you have to cheer for the Pirates to score 1 more to keep the game going and give your -1.5 a chance.
Do you think this holds any weight? It would definitely be a frustrating way to lose.
Sure, it sucks going into the 9th with a 1 run lead because I know I have almost a 0% chance of winning, but its not like the home teams never win by 2. It happens all the time. Hopefully, the damage is done before the 9th inning is reached. I'm not looking to sweep these plays. If I go 2-2 and net almost a unit I will be happy.
