First time in a while I can say that. 

The Mariners came into Yankee Stadium just last month and BEAT the Yankees 8-4 with C.C. Sabathia on the mound. Jason Vargas, the starting pitcher for Seattle in that game, isn't even part of the Mariners' rotation any more after being sent down to Triple A. The crazy part is that Vargas only lasted four innings in that game. After giving up those four runs on four hits, the Seattle bullpen shut the Yanks down for five innings. 

All things considered for tonight, how is taking the Yanks here at that price a great play? Other than the fact that Ian Snell is on the mound?

I don't see it. And that's the winner in me that's talking, not the guy that's lost eleven straight. 

Vargas was great to start, got injured, and didn't come back the same. And if every game worked out the same way...don't you think gambling would be a lot easier? Sabathia has a 1.94 ERA in August since 2006. And against the Mariners' offense who just played 13 innings last night? And I never said the Yankees were the right play, but why bother taking the runline on a team with such a pathetic offense when you have a nice price on their moneyline? It's just absurd.

Again you are talking like I'm touting the Yanks. I'm not...I'm touting AGAINST the runline. And you are hell bent on Jeter, Posada AND A-Rod being out. Are the lineups out yet? And your laughing at me for bringing up the stats from previous August's against random teams...well I laugh when you bring up stats on how the Mariners' beat Sabathia ONCE this season. I mean...he had a 0.69 ERA against them in his previous 13 innings against them. Ichiro hits .415 against him...Johjima hits .625. Well...thats about it. I have to say a lineup with the hot Damon, Tex, Matsui, and a hot Cano is scarier than a lineup with Ichiro and Branyan. And in the Mariners' last 11 wins, they have only won 4 games by more than 1 run. On the other hand...in the last 5 games the Yanks lost behind Sabathia...3 of those games were lost by 1 run.
