If you missed the end of the Angels/Yanks game last night, Halos lead 5-4, bottom of the 9th, 1 out, no one on base. Jazz Chizholm hits a pop up to short and the left side of the Angels infield stare at each other as it falls between them. Jazz then steals second, Romano walks Wells, and then gives up a walk off double to Caballero. Brutal. 2.5 unit swing for me.
Washington Nationals +132
Buccos are sitting some bats vs the lefty Griffin. No Reynold, O'Hearn, or Davis to start. This favors the Nats, as they are also sitting a few regulars, but not the heavy hitters like the Pirates are. The two best bats left in the Pittsburgh line up will have lefty/lefty match ups for the first few ABs. Washington has loaded up with lefty bats to face the righty Ashcraft. Pitching match up appears to be fairly equal, I'd lean to Pitt on the pen, but the offense goes to Washington, and with the big plus number, I'll chase it.
Royals/Tigers Under 8.5 -115
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Plus, its a getaway day game, no one wants to be here. It's going to be raining early on, and potentially throughout. Both starting pitchers have been above average so far, and neither offense can hit. I can't see Vegas getting a ton of over bettors on this number which kinda sucks, but I gotta trust my eyeballs.
Los Angeles Angels +245
Too good of value to pass up. The Yanks can't be this much of a favorite over anyone right now with how they are hitting. Especially against lefties. And although it appears to be a bullpen start for the Halos, I think that benefits an underdog, getting new arms everytime through the line up, not letting anyone get comfortable. Fried has been great, no way around it. But at almost 2.5:1, I'll take the flyer with the Angels offense. It's baseball, inferior teams win all the time.
Blue Jays/Brewers Over 8.5 -110
I LOVE fading Patrick Corbin. He's been really bad for a few years now, and I'll take advantage every chance I get. Sproat doesn't doesn't have the strongest pedigree either, albeit one MLB start. He got knocked around really good. 3IP, 7 ER, 4 BB, 3 HR. Ouch. Both line ups can swing it too, so not sure why this one is so low, but I'll bite.
Tampa Bay Rays -1.5 +125
Much like last night, the value on the number vs the White Sox is too good to pass up. Matz has been very serviceable, and the White Sox can't hit whatsoever. Tampa is finding no problems scoring, and being the road team, I don't mind laying the 1.5.
