Because according to your theory, you basically shouldn't even play parlays (which im not saying they are great at all)....considering you can say the same thing after each leg of a parlay hits. If someone has a 3 team parlay, and the first 2 hit, you would call someone a moron for not only doing a 2 team parlay....
In the current situation, you say he is costing himself money, but he is able to hedge on an underdog and make a good chunk of money regardless

If you would have left the dodgers out, you would have already been paid for your 3 team parlay and you wouldn't be losing $$$ on the hedge!
