Texas has been pitching, not hitting their way to victories this year. They are 3rd in the majors with a 2.80ERA and .214BAA. Their relievers have a 2.20ERA and .225BAA
Tepesch takes the mound for Texas today, sporting a 1-0 record and a fine 1.23ERA/0.95whip/.160BAA after taking down TB 6-1 at home. He comes off a minor league line that saw him have a 7.4 SO/9, a 0.8HR/9 and a 3.25K/BB. Pretty decent numbers.
Seattle is hitting .220 with a .662OPS with 15HR. The thing is, 7 of those HR will be out of the lineup today with Morse and Saunders out, and another 4 could be out if Gutierrez isnt able to suit up again (groin). That leaves 4HR in 13 games. 24 of 47rbi will be out. The fact is, you take these 3 guys out of the lineup and Seattle is 65/326 for a .199avg with 4HR and 23rbi. Yikes.
Maurer for Seattle, who prior to this season had never pitched above AA where he posted a 3.20ERA and 1.315whip. He makes the jump to the majors this year and gets lit up: 0-2 16.20ERA/2.40whip/.469BAA. Texas's bats haven't been hot, but they havent been ice cold either. Their OPS is .729, good for 15th in the majors.
Only having to go -126 against a Seattle team missing the majority of its offence? Mark me down for 3 units
