On a related note, why do most of the posts regarding terrible teams start with the Royals? The Pirates are the consummate epitome of futility from ownership to bat boy and are far and away the worst team in MLB. Maybe because the Royals division is so much more respectable than the Pirates?

I only picked Royals as the example as them and the Pirates are both projected under 70 wins, no other reason. Shouldve have said Pirates too.

I understand. Remember this though; if, in fact, the Pirates win only 68 games, which is the current low at Pinnacle, that still means they win 42% of their games, or roughly 8 of 20. So, if they have lost 4 or more of their last 10, they still maintain the 68 win pace even if they win their next game, which they are due to do. Frankly I think the Pirates will find a way, come hell or high water, to win maybe 62 games at best, just to avoid a 100 loss season. If I am correct, or even close on that total, their opponents will be laying a lot of juice, making them unprofitable to wager on.

I'm not really a player prediction guy, I just think as a team that 97 wins will be tough to reach with injuries/slumps. Obviously they are starting the season with one of the greatest pitching staffs of all time, but I wouldn't be shocked if they stumbled out of the gate!!! Halladay and Lee may pitch great, but I wouldn't be shocked if the team went 5-5 in their 1st 10 games due to lack of run support.

KE, I like reading your stuff and I think you are one of the more intelligent guys that post, but I disagree with you on the Pirates for this year. I believe this team has the tools to be decent this year, and will easily get to 70+ wins.
