The National League game I like tonight is San Francisco with Barry Zito. Zito has surprised people this season by coming up with good games when it's least expected (i.e after a terrible performance). Zito famously started the season an atrocious 0-8, then buried Marlins backers in Florida on May 23rd by winning as a +200 dog. Then after getting ripped at home by the Mets, he beat the Nationals in Washington, D.C. Following two more crappy starts at home, he again won as a +200 dog in Cleveland on June 25th. Zito did it again in San Diego on August 2nd, shutting out the Padres and Jake Peavy as a +210 underdog just 5 days after getting bombed at home by the weak-hitting D-Backs. Two more awful starts followed, and then Zito, backed by a particularly bad lineup that day, shutout the Braves in Atlanta getting +180.
Zito did it one more time in Colorado two weeks agao, when after possibly his worst effort of the season at home against the Reds, he beat the Rockies and Aaron Cook at Coors Field getting a crazy +210.
And that brings us to tonight's situation. Last Sunday, Zito got destroyed in San Diego by the Padres, giving up 8 hits and walking 5 in an 8-6 loss. And now he's on the road getting better than +200. He's done it all season since starting out 0-8 - this guy somehow follows up his WORST starts by winning on the road when you least expect him and his team to pull it off. And the payoffs have been huge, one right after another. And who expects them to pull it off tonight against the streaking Dodgers?
I do!
San Francisco +220 risking 7 units
San Francisco +218 risking 3 units
San Francisco +1.5 EVEN risking 4 units
Still contemplating an alternate runline bet if I can get a nice price.
