Really like the Angels tonight and I'll likely add a RL play. I'm not ignoring the Rangers' streak or playing the "due for a loss" angle, just looking at this as a stand alone game considering the streak and still see lots I like with the Angels tonight.
In his career, Derek Holland is 0-3 with a 7.43 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in road starts following a road start where he did not allow an earned run. In these four starts, he has allowed a total of 6 home runs. Holland's last start was a 9 IP, 0 earned run gem on the road against the Seattle Mariners.
On the road this year, Holland has a 3.20 ERA and 1.24 WHIP, but dissecting that a little more and here are his road stats vs. winning and losing teams:
Sub-.500 Teams : 3-0 with a 1.70 ERA and 1.13 WHIP
Above-.500 Teams: 2-2 with a 5.53 ERA and 1.46 WHIP
The Angels are coming off a shutout last night at the hands of Alexi Ogando. This year, at home, following a home game where they failed to score, the Angels are 4-1.
Opposing Holland is Dan Haren who maintains a 1.83 ERA and 0.76 WHIP at home. This year, he is 3-0 with a 3.09 ERA and 1.28 WHIP off a loss.
Phenomenal break down, Spaz. Phenomenal.
This is what I wrote over in my thread, hope you don't mind me pasting it in yours........

I'd take Dan Haren 49,999 times out of 50,000 in this situation.
This is a big game for him. Playing the 1st place, divison rival, Texas Rangers who are going for their 12th straight victory...
Dan Haren's history against the Oakland A's (his last outing) has always been horrible.
His 2 games before that, he BEAT 2 of the top 5 or 6 pitchers in the league:
He beat Justin Verlander 1-0 with a complete game shutout back on July 5th.
He then beat Felix Hernandez 4-2, going 8 innings giving up 2ER.
This has BIG GAME written all over it for Dan Haren & the Halo's.
