Another good day for this effort. On Wednesday went 2-1. Since started posting again here the record has been 9-3. The Over totals were both correct. The team (Toronto) was incorrect as they got swept by the Red Sox.
For Thursday we have four plays. One team, one under, and two Overs at 9.5.
Underdog Team - Detroit
Under Total: Oakland (Justin Duchscherer 1.82 ERA) / Toronto (Rickey Romero 1.80 ERA)
Overs at 9.5 - Chicago White Sox/Texas and Minnesota/Detroit
Good luck on Thursday all!!!

Went 2-2 on Thursday. Still came out with a small unit increase. On the Under for Thursday Duchsherer got injured in the game and in the same inning the new pitcher entered the game a 2 run home run was hit. The total was at 7.5 and the final total was 9. Interesting sometimes the outcomes of one's efforts.
Record thus far from reposting 11-5
There are two plays for Friday and they are both on the same game.
No Under totals Friday
Underdog team Detroit
Only Over 9.5 Los Angeles Angels/ Detroit Tigers
Good Luck all!!!

Well I knew it had to happen. Had a losing day at 2-4. Sure there will be many more in the course of a full season. Hopefully though there are more winning days. Record is now 15-9.
Roy Halladay pitched a fine game on Saturday shutting out the Mets who were on an amazing winning streak for them. Mike Pelfrey had a blow up after having an ERA of 0.69.
One thing about baseball that is said over and over, "Baseball is not a streak, but a marathon."
So gonna keep going here. Season is just over 10 % done. As I said in an earlier post my goal here is to keep this going all season. This is my first season to do this. Learning as I go. Thanks for your encouragement!
There are 4 plays for Sunday. There are two underdog teams, one Under and one over 9.5 only plays. So here we go:
Underdog teams: Baltimore and San Diego
Under 7: Texas (C.J. Wilson 1.75 ERA) vs. Seattle (Doug Fister 1.67 ERA)
Over 9.5 Only: Chicago White Sox / New York Yankees
Till tomorrow,
Good Luck All!!!

I may suggest that you also consider another filter and that is the current hitting power of teams without injury. I get the Slug % and take off for when a power player gets a current injury. One last filter what about bullpen ratings?

Wow! Today was a good day, going 4-0 on the day. So far this system has been working well. As you have read I am keeping track of wins and losses since I restarted posting. Since that time I have gone 19-9 at a 67% winning rate. The season is still young. With this system if I can hit greater than 50% I will be in profit.
Vegasplayer thanks for the input. I will look at slugging pct. and bullpen ratings. In hindsight though if I had used these with the Baltimore/Boston game I may not have chosen Baltimore. It seems that there are so many variables that one can use to get winners. Sometimes there can be too many. For right now I can going to stay with the system as posted. It is doing well.
Burg2vegas it is good to know that others are using this system and are having success. It encourages me to keep going.
There is a limited schedule for Monday. There are no Underdog teams, no Under totals, and two 9.5 overs only.
Underdog teams - none
Under Totals - none
Over 9.5 only - Los Angeles Angels / Boston Red Sox, Kansas City Royals / Chicago White Sox
As Always,
Good Luck All!!!

I do hope that you're not claiming this as your system. These two systems have been around for several years now and were posted here on covers in the systems forum 4 or 5 years ago. You really need to give credit where credit is due.

I never said this was my system. As you can read in earlier posts I said that I had seen these before and wanted to try them. You are absolutely right, these have been around awhile. As you can also see from other posts readers have been using these systems and they are successful with them. What I am doing is posting how I have been using the system.. For those who have not seen the system before perhaps they can gain some new insight into something they can use themselves. seaotter thanks for bringing up that point and you are correct in pointing it out.

Underdog team Cleveland

Well I was blown out tonight. Went 0-4. Record is now at 20-14. Gonna keep plugging away. There is only one play for Wednesday. I could of put Pittsburgh in there as a choice for an underdog team, but they are under .450 so staying away from them.
We actually have two games at 9.5 in my book. One of them is New York and Baltimore. As you know from reading these posts, this is an evolving process for me in my choices and who not to choose.
In the Yankees game Andy Pettitte is pitching and he is the number 11 pitcher in Sagarin ratings, so I am not going to choose this game. I am going to start using the same filter on over 9.5 games that I do in the Unders total game. That is if there is a top 20 pitcher pitching then I will not use that game. There is one game at over 9.5 though that I will use.
Underdog team - none
Under total - none

Very tired tonite. Want to get the underdog system up for Thursday. Went 0-1 Wednesday. Record now 20-15
Have two plays for Thursday. I don't normally do this but going to take Houston over Arizona. Haren and Rodriquez are pitchers who are both quality, but not in the top 20. Houston is at home. They have a poor record but they are at home. There is one only over 9.5.
Underdog team - Houston
Under Totals - None
Only Over 9.5 - Kansas City Royals / Texas Rangers

I went 1-1 on Thursday. Texas and Kansas City scored 25 runs between them. I said in yesterdays post that I probably should not go for Houston but I did. I got over anxious looking for plays and chose to try Houston. Need to stick with my filters of only playing home underdogs with a winning percentage on overall record of at least .450.
In the totals my filters are for Under totals both teams need to be using a top twenty pitcher as listed by Sagarin Ratings on USAtoday. These update daily and I use the NPERA for their stat. I update these pitchers daily also and keep track of them. If a pitcher drops out of the top twenty I don't drop him from my listing but watch him to see how he is doing. Sometimes they come back into the top pitchers.
For over 9.5 only totals I choose these to keep track of them as I have heard that this number wins consistently over 55%. My one filter for these plays is if a pitcher is listed in the top 20, I will not choose that game.
I am learning that I need to be patient and continue to monitor with these filters, as the plays will come to me. I will have at least one choice each day. That is what has been coming up thus far.
So using this methodology, I have 4 plays coming up on Friday. There are two Under totals, one Underdog team, and one over 9.5.
When I list the pitchers for the Under I will be using Sagarins NPERA stat for each one. You can find these stats listed here.
Underdog Team - Arizona (.483 w pct.)
Under Totals - Kansas City (Zack Greinke NPERA 2.47) / Texas (C.J. Wilson NPERA 2.39) Under 8 Tampa Bay (David Price NPERA 2.39) / Oakland (Gio Gonzalez NPERA 2.49) Under 7.5
Only Over 9.5 - Milwaukee / Arizona
As always, Good Luck All!!!
