Hey, I am new to baseball betting. Just wonder what is "bought half run" mean?

Aka say there is an over/under of 8.5. Meaning if you take the over you need 9 runs to win your bet. Bookies do this to reduce the amount of pushes. However if you buy half a run you can lower the 8.5 to 8 and possibly push your bet if only 8 runs are scored. Buying a half of a run lowers your risk but in turn will also lower the profitability of the bet.
