I won yesterday with Tampa to finally get myself a post-season win. I'll also have a pending 1* play on the Rays winning the series. But I'm going all in on Tampa by taking them in Game 6 also:
1* Rays -141
Likely pitching mismatch. Freddy Peralta has been the best pitcher in baseball ever since he escaped the Mets rathole and got to a primo organization (Milwaukee will deeply regret not getting him back when the Mets dumped him at the trading deadline). Peralta's ERA the last two months is 1.76 and is an even better 1.37 the past month. Cleveland, which is here solely because the AL was terrible and they got a bye and then got to play the barely. 500 White Sox, is on borrowed time. Tonight's pitcher is still not named as of this writing but may be Bibee has been shelled of late and has a 6.16 ERA the last two months. The Rays are better in all facets of the game and may be on their way to winning a World Series.
1* Rays To Win World Series +181
Assuming the Rays finish off Cleveland (and this bet is dead if they don't), the Rays are at least 50-50 to beat Milwaukee in the World Series. Look at the likely pitching matchups. Game 1: Rasmussen who can go eight innings vs Misiorowski who right now can only go five. Game 2: Peralta vs Logan Henderson who was shaky in his Dodgers series start. Milwaukee has no credible fourth starter right now. The Rays don't hit as much as I'd like but Milwaukee's bullpen is due for a letdown. Pure value play. (It will go down to about +135 after the AL series is over so I'm grabbing it now.)
If the Rays get knocked out by Cleveland the next two games, I take a pretty bad beating. But I like my chances.
