Took a day off and watched and read a lot of baseball. Time to wake up!!!!!
CUBS +127 (1.5 UNITS) - Philly is 1-5 at home against lefties. Gorz is pitching better than his numbers and I have no faith in Moyer continuing a hot streak.
UNDER CINCY/ATL 1ST 5 INNS 4.5 (EVEN) (1.25 UNITS) - Kawakami is a lot better than his numbers show and his tinkering with his 2 seam fastball and adding more to his repertoire. Harang is more than capable.
SAN DIEGO +107 (1.25 UNITS) - Garland is one of the hottest pitchers in the majors In his L6 starts, he has tossed 38 innings and allowed 23 hits, 4 earned runs (0.95 era) with a 20:20 K:BB ratio. At 37 years old, Ramon Ortiz is a shell of what he once was. In his L11 innings, he has allowed 14 hits and 7 earned runs with a 8:4 K:BB ratio. Pads hitters are a combined 21 for 60 off Ortiz and Gonzales is 6 for 9 with 2 HR's. Ethier is on the DL and while the Dodgers are rolling, I still think they are overrated and vulnerable.
KANSAS CITY +122 (1.25 UNITS) - Meche has looked a lot better in his L2 starts allowing just 4 runs in 14 innings. Justin Masterson is 1-11 since being acquired by the Tribe and they are 3-15 in his 18 starts. The Tribe is hitting .250 as a team with a .363 slugging % and .696 OPS while KC is hitting .272 as a team with a .401 slugging % and .729 OPS.
MINNESOTA +114 (1.25 UNITS) - Flat spot for the Red Sox off an emotional series with the Yankees and a great comeback win last night. Their bullpen has been severely taxed lately. Buccholz has lost his command issuing 10 walks in his last 11 1/3 innings and facing high pitch counts. In his lone start against the Twins in the past, he lasted just 4 1/3 innings and allowed 8 hits, 7 earned runs and 5 walks.
UNDER LAA/WHITE SOX 1ST 5 INNS 5 RUNS (-115) (1.25 UNITS) - Saunders seems to be improving and the Sox don't hit lefties. Danks has been outstanding this year.
BALTIMORE +153 (1.25 UNITS) - I think Guthrie has performed better than his numbers. He comes off an outstanding win over the Tribe where he tossed 8 innings and allowed just 2 hits and 1 run. Prior to that, outside of one excellent start against the A's he faced the toughest lineups in the AL: Minny, the Yankees twice, Boston and Tampa twice. Rich Harden is struggling. In 38 1/3 innings, he has allowed 33 hits, 21 earned runs, 7 HR's and has issued an incredible 31 walks. In his last outing he lasted just 2 2/3 innings and blew a 6 run lead by allowing t earned runs and 6 walks. Texas is overrated IMO. They have just 4 wins this season over teams with winning records and haven't beaten a team with a winning record since 4/25. Way too much chalk to lay with a struggling pitcher and a mediocre team.
DETROIT -119 (1.25 UNITS) - Verlander is hitting his best stride. In his L4 starts, he has thrown 16 2/3 innings and allowed 15 hits, 4 earned runs (1.35 era) with a 27:11 K:BB ratio. The A's are 7-11 against teams with winning records while the Tigers are 10-9. The Tigers sport the best bullpen in the AL so far. Braden was sent home yesterday to battle an illness but looks like he will still start.
SEATTLE -113 (1.25 UNITS) - Doug Fister has quietly been one of the top 10 AL pitchers so far this year. In 47 innings, he has allowed 35 hits, 9 earned runs (1.72 era), 1 HR with a 20: K:BB ratio, 0.94 WHIP and .207 average allowed. His ho,e ERA is 1.20. Cecil is struggling lately for the Jays. In his L2 starts, he has thrown 7 1/3 innings and allowed 15 hits, 11 earned runs (13.50 era), 2 HR's and a 5:5 K:BB ratio. Cheap price on such a large pitching advantage.
