IMO, batter-pitcher matchup stats have little value in predicting future performance in most cases.  There are notable exceptions, but in general, I give them little credence.

Agreed that it shouldn't be used to predict future performance, but it helps directionally understanding with a batter's familiarity with the pitcher, especially when the AB totals goes up. In this case Shoppach, Ibanez, and Andino has seen CC quite a bit and they are batting back-to-back-to-back, thus increasing probability of a prolonged inning, thus they're in the lineup vs the others.
