I am not as old as you old timers but I have a deep appreciation for the history of the game. Hearing stories of the past greats being passed down is one of things I really love in life. I have the Ernie Harwell CD collection he made a year or so before he passed and it is something I listen to on every long rode trip I take.
My Grandfather before he passed, and my father still to this day, talked of that 68 Series like it was the greatest event ever. I watched Game 5 on the MLB archives a couple years ago, Brock was out in this Tigers fans eyes. I was at game 5 of the 84 series as a 9 year old kid and can still see Gibby rounding the bases after that homer off Gossage. It was a magical moment and probably cemented my love of this great sport. I don't care who they play, I just want to see them get a ring for us and Mike Illitch, the best owner in professional sports.

I hope Det. Does well. I am pretty sure the economy has not been kind there if I am reading all the signals correctly, with auto industry and housing problems etc. few years back when Spartans made Final 4 I was happy cause I know Lions were in a dump. Tigers have given hope and now Lions give some hope. We are in a slump here to as our Warrior football is like real bad but most of here have allegiances to other teams we attach ourselves to when we were growing up like ND, SF, LA, etc. a side not is some of our better athletes did attend Mi. St. And played for them in their glory years with Duffy D. Charley Wedemeyer from Punahou, same high school of Obama and Bob Apisa and Dick Kenney were all with Sparty in that era.

first time post in baseball because this is my first year to bet baseball
but these play offs have been a boon. and this is one of the best threads I've read on covers thank you. as for my avatar I love Bob Gibson BUT have never been a fan of the Cardinals my uncle took me to Fenway when I was 5 and to a Bruins game the same week. This was 1972. a damn good year to see the Bruins. not so much for the Sox
the Cardinals are a damn gritty team as are the Tiger's I'm taking it game by game and doubling my nut. as they say.
wholly shizit I love the no runs in the first bet and the +1/2 in 5

Lolich, yeah that is the name that escaped me. Listen I was in Minneapolis the year before attending college, the year the Twins had a one game lead with 2 games to play. They had Dean Chance and Jim Kaat pitching those last two games. They had Tony Oliva, rookie Rod Carew, Harmon Killebrew, etc. and they lost both games. At least got to see Mickey Mantle play in the old Met, believe Billy Martin was a base coach. Time goes on.
twins were 65 ...mudcat grant big pitcher for the twins. kiddy kaat also..tony oliva probally one of the all time greats but he always got hurt. zollo versalies, earl battey, bobby allison
