The objective is to swing and hit the ball right?

Im watching meatballs thrown right over the plate and batters just stand there and take the pitch.

Are they deliberately bailing out the pitcher ? Why aren’t they swinging a perfect pitch down the middle?

Guererro 1st pitch was right down the middle. He watched it like a coward. What am I missing
