Anyways in short the bet was

In short what I detailed was how the team isnt made up to win this year. They had the best farm system of talent but that isnt going to help this year specifically. The owner is just trying to get by for cheap until all the talent is ready. This is a scratch off year for them. THis team is worse imo then the teams over the last 5 years that didnt make it to 70 wins.

Gordon, Cabrera, and free swinging Francouer make up a horrible outfield. They could all have good years considering their career numbers and they still would be below average.

The pitching does not excite me at all and I doubt even if their lineup puts it together it can outscore what the pitching staff will surrender daily.

Soria is a bright spot for them but if they cant get enough hitting or enough pitching to have a lead going into the 9th then he is abslutely worthless right ?

Not as good as my initial post that covers gave me a error messag eon but it will have to do. I feel the edge is on my side on the under 69 .... I think this team could miraculously stay 100% healthy and not reach the 70 win mark.

Well I guess A good way to start this reasoning off would be one of the most known sayings in baseball ... pitching and defense wins. This team is absolutely loaded with pitching. They are all young and only getting better quickly. The Oakland A's have the best overall pitching corps (starters,bullpens, and closers combined) in the Majors.

I also believe that the offense has improved by a nice amount. Brought in more power with Willingham and a good solid performer in Dejesus.This was A offense that was already 11th overall in baseball in runs last year. The additions of Willingham and Matsui in the middle of that order will prove to b great signings.

Now on to the defense. Hell their solid here as well. Remember all this is coming from a team that was already pretty good last year. Crisp tracks down almost everything. Dejesus was initially prized for his defense coming into the league and has proven not only to be solid defensively but a solid hitter as well. Pennington and Ellis make up a great consistent double play combo. Barton is a fuckin stud at 1st...and Kouzmanoff is still in baseball because of his play at the hot corner. At catcher is the very dependable Suzuki who has proven to stay healthy at a position in which that is pretty hard to do.

To top it off the West is not as scary anymore. Angels usually have health problems and with the squad they have now I can see that being an issue once again. There is no more Lee on the rangers or in the AL period!!!. And they get to play the Mariners

All this equals up to at least 84 wins imo.

San diego scares me because of their pitching. I cant trust it either way. Their bullpen is solid as they come and I feel the linesmaker got this one set at exactly where they will end up . Too close for my comfort and I feel like Id be playing the roulette

CARL CRAWFORD with a little sprinkle of Adrian Gonzalez is how you do it.No reason to stretch the reasoning out here much.... Ill let this do the talking

1. Jacoby Ellsburry-- healthy and tearing it up this spring

2. Dustin Pedroia = beast as usual

3. Carl Crawford....what  doesnt he do good?

4. Agon- gonna absolutely thrive  in that ballpark

5. Youklis- was on his way to best season yet b4 he got hurt.Freak accident he will b great

6. Big Papi-- if he farted on you it would kill you

7. Drew- Average will go up along with OBP this year very solid 7th batter to have in lineup

8. Salty-- Decent offense but with this lineup its his D that he should focus on

9.Scutaro/Lowrie.... thats what you above average depth at SS

Pitching isnt nothing to shake a stick at either.

Lester is only turning into Maddux/Glavine type of dominance in their primes more and more each year.

Buccholz is a Cy Young contender

Lackey is Lackey. Bends but dont break... a battler.

Beckett is the wild card here.... if he pitches anywhere close to his potential this bet will cash easy.

Dice K--- I will keep this short n sweet. Name a better 5th starter in baseball?

Feel like Im forgetting something... O thats right this team can and will play them some defense. dont hit it anywhere but right this year if u want a hit.... Crawford and Ells patroling the outfields is going to be a site all year to watch.

Youk and Pedroia make up a solid infield. Barring another injury type year as horrid as last year I can honestly see them winning a 100 even....

100 -62 is the record I see with even slightly moderate injuries.

love the addition of Dunn in front Of Konerko. This team is going to score some runs with one big swings of the bat. I just feel them 2 will compliment eachother so well. A lot rides on the shoulders of 2008 1st pick Beckham. Pierre will post his usual numbers and Beckham can really make that lineup dynamic if he can be pesky and get on in front of the  quadruple 30 homer guys

I feel their homer numbers will be around there. I just really like the overall balance of this lineup.

Pitching is def solid enough to make you not fret on taking the over. Solid bullpen even though they lost Jenks. Going to be a fun team to watch as a fan of the sport along with the gambling aspect for me personally. GL

I will not list evertthing I am taking as far as the seasons over/unders because I know that I am not well know at this site, but I can tell you that I have over 20 years as a professional handicapper ( 7 in Vegas ) and last year the Reds over was one of our biggest wins ever.

 So after a 91 win season...which would have been more like 100 if they had a "real" closer as Coco and a few other late inning pitchers blew many games including two 9 run leads...I was expecting there o/u to be about 93 which I would have still went over but would have not gave it as my best bet, I was very happy and a bit shocked to see it at 89 !!!

  This team is better then last year. Wood and Leake as there 4 & 5 starter is a great inprovment. Even with Cuteo and Bailey missing a few starts they are so deep that only Sam Lecure has to join the rotation as they do not need a fitth starter for a while and Sam is not bad at all. They did not even have to mention starting A. Chapmen which brings me to this...Having AC as a set-up guy means the Reds who gave up more 8th inning runs then any team will be on the other side of that stat this year.

 What would be even better for the Reds ( which should have been done going into spring training ) was/is to get Coco out of there and have AC as the closer. Sean Casey said the same thing on the MLB networks show " NL perdictions "  and why he picked him as his NL ROY.

  The Reds OVER on wins for the season is my/our ( Family business ) best best in this catogory.
