Is Javier Vasquez actually a favorite?

Take the Padres

Vazquez hasn't won 3 games in a row since Christ was resurrected. I'll take my odds betting against this bum. The line on the Marlins is a bit inflated after winning all those games in a row against Houston/Cubs. I think Padres bats are still warm from last night and the Marlins are not a good day club team (10-15) while the Padres play well during the day (20-15).

and a huge favorite at that. This line is absurd to me, considering how the Padres have so easily dominated the 1st 2 games. It either has to be a play on SD, or better yet, bet a different game. Good Luck

I agree, this line makes no sense to me. I'm taking the Padres. Best of luck Getty

it's always not that easy to sweep any mlb at their stadium...   in addition to that it is getaway day... they just won the series... vazquez should be good enough to keep the padres from scoring many runs... it's revenge time folks  i think the line ist a little bit too high but i would never bet on the padres at this point....

I won't be playing the Fish but let's not completely ignore how well Javier has been pitching lately. In his L5 starts, he has tossed 32 1/3 innings and has allowed 29 hits, 5 earned runs and has a sick 26:1 K:BB ratio. That's a 1.39 ERA and 0.93 WHIP.

I agree, but this is the Marlins we are talking about. They have a history of being swept during 3 game homestands. In regards to revenge, I'm not sure that angle is applicable to this game. It's not like there is a huge rivalry between these two teams.

Yes Vazquez has been pitching remarkably in his last 5 starts. But if you look at every start before that, and his history of just being awful, I think that this is a game that Vazquez regresses to his norm of sucking.

I'm going for a miraculous hat trick with the San Diego Papa's.

I've hit 2 straight days @ +150 and higher.

However, I'm not 100% confident in this game with Mosley on the hill today.


Whats just as shocking as SD being huge dogs, again, is the OVER is set @ a very doable 8 runs.

Javier gets a bad rap. I don't see how anyone can say his history is awful. In fact, he's been a very solid pitcher. Since 2001, the guy is 133-125 with a 4.12 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. Those are solid numbers.

Yes, those are solid numbers. But if you look at his numbers since 2010, when he really started to decline, he has been just god-awful. But, I do see where you are coming from and that's why they call it gambling

So you rather throw out his numbers in the past 10 years and focus on just his numbers since last year? I would say in 11 years a pitcher is due for a bad one, maybe he found his groove again?

He just went 5 straight games with a 1.39 ERA and 0.93 WHIP. He's pitching his best baseball right now in several years.

I think this just proves that Vazquez is due for a shit game and his numbers will begin to regress back to the norm

June 1st, 6th, 11th = in those 3 starts he had a combined 17ER ((4ER, 6ER, 7ER))

If he continues his July performance, he could still get a loss today with the Marlins bats performing no where near the level they were when in New York their last series.


I expect for Vasquez to give up at least 4 ER, and the same with Moseley, too.

I think it is set @ 8 for a tease. But I don't expect the Padres to come out flat when they have a chance for their first sweep in....... I don't know the number. But it has to be a long ass time.
