Hi, at the beginning of the season I made a wager on the St. Louis Cardinals to win the world series. I wagered 25 dollars to win 975. Now the Cardinals are basically in the playoffs and I was wondering what the best way to hedge this bet. Any and all input and suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

why the fck did u bet them to win the world series if you were going to bail at the playoffs.....why not bet them to make the playoffs...then take whatever the winnings were and roll whatever amount onto a world series bet...do you not understand that if you hedge you pay double juice

I&#x27;m not bailing I just want to come out with some money if the cardinals do happen to lose...nothing is gauranteed in sports so why not take gauranteed money when you can...anyways i was thinking of either betting against the cardinals whenever they are facing elimination OR betting the team they are facing to win the series, National league and the world series....any thoughts or other suggestions..

if u bet them to get into the playoffs, u would already have the guaranteed money...then u could choose how much of it u wanted to bet on the cards to win the world series

&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;25 dollar wager on the Cards to make the playoffs probably would have won him 20 bucks or so.&#xD;&#xA;If he was going to take the Cards to win the World Series he needed to do it when he did.....The odds were a lot better back then.  Those bets are sucker bets but looks like you may come out ok.

The Cards should be favored in every NL series so you should bet $100 on the other side for each series. If they win the WS you&#x27;ll probably get back @ $600 and if they lose a series you&#x27;ll probably make $200.

That is one of two reasons against futures, the other being, you are basically never offered true odds. Unless you think you know a hell of a lot more than oddsmakers a season in advance (and giving them months to prepare) it&#x27;s a losing game.But as entertainment, I&#x27;m not going to tell anyone not to bet futures. Personally, I&#x27;d let it ride til the WS and then re-evaluate. Even if they manage to get there, I might just let it ride there. Every team seems to have serious holes in their rotation. I can&#x27;t see them getting rolled by AL team.

thanks guys ...chilotokid if i bet 100 against them and they lose the first series...then i win about 150 im guessing...if they win i lose 100 and i would have to bet again on another team...so i could end up losing money using this strategy

Nope, they will play 3 seriers (Division,Championship &amp; World)If you were to bet $100 on the Cards opponent&#x27;s each series the most you would lose is $300 ($100 for each series you lost) but you would win $975 on the Cards winning so you would stand to profit $675. This is not a losing strategy at all and in my opinion this is what I would do. The only snag you might run into is if the Cards are an underdog to the Phils in the ALCS and an underdog in the World Series than you would have to pony up a little extra on your bet to see any real profit in the end.

You cant hedge a bet when there&#x27;s SEVEN other teams who can win the World Series.  If the Cards make the WS, THEN you hedge a bit on the AL team but until then you cant do anything.

Right now he&#x27;s holding a ticket with quite a bit of potential and is looking to optimize. You can bet the individual series, but books such as 5Dimes and Matchbook will offer the Cards NOT to win the world series. That would be my advice. You will have to bet quite a bit though.4. Don&#x27;t listen to these guys.I have seen a prospective price for La/Stl -110 both ways.
