I'm back from driving around Vegas on a Saturday night where I dumped a bunch of my Rays series action by taking Boston -120. I had to bet a series of 2-team parlays in order to avoid moving the line so I need certain NFL games to go the right way to fully ditch the Rays. It feels good to be at least halfway off of them. I think they're doomed.
Bator brother say in aint so. You think these Rays are going to lay down? Have we seen them in this spot throughout the season at all? I realize it's difficult to wake up and get back to work after the debacle we call games 5 & 6. Still holding tight on my rays series ticket. What NFL plays need to go the right way? Raiders and or Green Bay? If I can pile on a few winners before first pitch tonight I may be more inclined to make a bold move.

Guys, first of all, as of right now, NONE of my Rays action is hedged. First, some NFL games need to come in. There are three of them, and they are all late games (Jets/Raiders under 41.5, Browns/Skins under 42, and Packers +1.5). If all of them cover, then I'll have cut my Rays action in half, because each of those games is parlayed to Lester -120. If none of them win, then I'm still where I was yesterday.

I hope you won't resent if I say a few words. You and me both have pretty much sucked calling this series if you ask me. With all due respect you have been calling in Tampa action since Game 2 all up until last night if I recall correctly, asking others how they could be betting Boston considering the situation.
How in the world is that a bad thing? I don't know about you, but I'm still ahead with the Rays in this series. I lost in Game 1, passed on Game 2, bet crazily on the Rays in Game 3, bet them again in Games 4 & 5, then lost an in-game wager last night.
The number of horrible sports bettors that are choosing to line up with the Red Sox tonight continues to grow. I have to consider keeping the bulk of my Rays series and World Series action.

Actually, not even in half. It'll cut my Rays action down by a little over a third.

I sincerely hope you weren't referring to me in your last paragraph since I am not in the Red Sox train, just the opposite. And it's not a bad thing when you put it that way, I wasn't aware you "bet crazily" on the Rays in game 3, I just recall your numerous encounters with Red Sox backers and am flabbergasted to see you becoming one of them despite the spot that obviously favors Boston, who have been to hell and back.
Since I consider you a pretty sharp bettor, I would have thought you stay on the Rays bandwagon now that it's shrinked down to me and a couple of Tampa natives.

There's something to be said for both these teams' mindsets going into tonight's game. Even after the collapse in Boston, the Rays were still favored to finish off the Sox the following game.
With Boston's underdog and backs up against the wall win last night, things have spun 180. The line, and the people have the Rays, NOT the Sox as the underdog now - in a place where they have been phenomenal all season, and postseason long.
The Rays have gone from expecting to take this series two days ago, and appear as the favorite to win the World Series, to now being an underdog in their own building, and expecting to be booted from the playoffs and not even make the World Series.
In most other circumstances, the home team would be favored in Game 7, yet we're lucky enough to get the Rays at + money! Sure, the price might be appropriate for what's transpired, but how can you lose all faith in the Rays, when everyone else is as well?

First, they played like pussies last night while Boston, as usual, capitalized on enough of their hickups. Second, it's very hard to overlook what has happened to other teams in Game 7 that lost both Games 5 and 6. They not only lose, they get crushed (Indians in '07, Yankees in '04, Cubs in '03, Angels in '86). Given that, though, I'm not writing the Rays off just yet, but I don't want to be on them anymore for 28+ units, you know?

I would like to discard the Indians in '07 since they were the away team. The Yankees and Cubs were obviously at home, yet were quite large favorites to win their respective Game 7's. Meanwhile, I was still breast feeding back in '86, so uhh, yeah.
I think it's a little different being the home dog in this situation, compared to being the home fave - mentally at least. But I definitely understand how you wouldn't want 28 units on this series now, considering it's basically as if you never bet the series, and instead decided to bet the final game for 28 units, without knowing what you know now. That's one run on sentence.

Let me clear that up. I wasn't feeding anyone breasts. I was being fed breasts. Yeah... that sounds better...

I don't know about you saberjake, but whenever I use to "feel better" about having my money on one team over another, I always lost - I mean, always. But maybe that's just me.
