OK, I will buy the under @ Tampa, my number comes up 6, so we both have a stake in that game, but not the same pick, so you don't have to fear the jinx. Let's get 'em.

Our boy! Back in the Polish Cavalry they called him "Mr. I'm-outta-here." His horse had one speed forward and six in reverse! Actually I think he leans Twins, but doesn't want to call down our mutual jinx.

Max seems like he has a problem with letting go, so Toronto is paying him $3 mil for this year, but he is getting paid $15 mil from the Nats this year, another $15 mil next year, and another $15 mil in 2028 from the Dodgers, all deferred money.
I guess his competitive nature overpowers the reality of his performance, or lack of it.

So, today, Max is looking at 33 mill to continue his struggle. If the Jays, Nats and Dodgers offered him 2/3 of that (22 mill) to retire tomorrow, would he take it? Proprtianately the Jays save most of the 3 miil, and the Nats and Dodgers save a third. I know I would take it and preserve my legacy. These teams are crazy for not offering a buyout immediately.
Your thoughts?

Not 33, but 48 actually, since he is getting 15 from the Nats also this year, on top of the 3 from the Blue Jays (he does have bonuses that could go up to 10, from this Toronto contract, but he needs to reach a certain number of innings for that).
So those $45 mil are not predicated on him being on the field, he will get that money regardless, because it's all deferred money, from his previous contract with the Nats. I have no idea what it's like to be a great competitor, but it's quite obvious age has caught up to him, and he doesn't have to go out there and make a fool of himself, yet denial is not something easy to overcome. There is a another guy just like him, Verlander, both of them have prolonged their career unnecessarily imo.
