Today's pitching matchup (Loux vs Braden) significantly favors the A's, which is displayed by the -145 ML. Braden had not given up more than 3 runs in a start this season, including pitching 5 scoreless innings against the Texas Rangers (no one not named Zack Greinke can say that).
While their is perceived value in the LAAs +135 ML, I can not take it with a guy on the mound like Loux who apparent throws a fairly hittable ball (11 hits in 4 innings against Seattle and 10 hits in 7 innings against Minnesota). So you have a good pitcher against a decent offense, up against a mediocre pitcher against a weak offense.
I don't see the Angels scoring enough to be comfortable, but I don't see the A's stringing together enough clutch hits to win a game. This leads me to....
3 of Laux's 4 starts have gone under. 4 of Braden's 5 starts have gone under.
