Well, here we are again. The A's lost last night, albeit by about five feet.
The A's have only lost back to back games on two occasions since dropping the June 8th doubleheader:
July 21st (Twins) and July 22nd (Astros), then July 25th and July 26th (Rangers).
The A's are listed at +125 Cubs -140.
Come on in, the waters nice.
Some additional notes:
Cubs lost Kintzler last night to a pectoral injury, and Cishek through 25 pitches before being removed. Their bullpen is very short-armed and tired. They will need length from Lester.
The cubs have won 6 straight at home when Lester starts. Their last loss in a Lester start was on May 23rd against philly. Oakland has won Anderson's last 6 road starts. Their last loss was on May 14th at Seattle.
The A's haven't lost on the road two days in a row to the same team since losing to the Mariners in Seattle on May 13th and 14th by scores of 6-5 and 4-3. Since then they have won seven times in a row on the road when facing the same team that defeated them the day before.
On June 5th they lost to the Angels in Anaheim, 10-9. The next day they beat them 7-4.
On June 8th they lost both games of a doubleheader to the Rangers in Texas by scores 10-5 and 3-1. The next day they beat them 9-8.
On June 10th they lost to the Rays in Tampa, 6-2. The next day they beat them 4-3.
On June 27th they lost to the Angels in Anaheim, 8-3. The next day they beat them 7-2.
On July 6th they lost to the Mariners in Seattle, 6-3. The next day they beat them 7-4.
On July 18th they lost to the Twins in Minnesota, 6-3. The next day they beat them 5-3.
On July 22nd they lost to the Astros in Houston, 11-1. The next day they beat them 4-3 in 11 innings.

They're on that streak of winning Lester's home starts because they're scoring a lot when he pitches. The Cubs have scored FIFTY-FIVE runs in Lester's last seven home starts. Lester himself has an ERA just over 4.00 in those games. The A's +130 and over 9.5 makes sense to me.
