Full Disclosure - I have SD to close out a large parlay so take this as part venting but also an observation ive made for awhile

I do not understand why a team up by 3 or less runs allows a player to walk over to 2nd base to take away the double play possibility.  I understand the risk associated with attempting to throw him out but this is the Major Leagues right? you dont have faith in your catcher throwing the ball to 2nd base? 

This is especially stupid at Coors Field when a 3 run lead means nothing.  You take away the possibility for a double play and you are allowing the chance for a big inning in Denver

if you follow baseball... the reason you don't hold the runner is because it creates a hole in the infield (hit and run)

yeah you're right so just let the guy walk to 2nd base so if they hit a single its an automatic run anyway

the run is irrelevant when you have 2 outs and a 3 run lead jackass

nobody said anything about 2 outs...there was actually only one out (hence the comment about the double play) 

forget it - wasnt meant to be an attack or an argument - it was a reasonable question/observation in my opinion

Stewart has a valid point. That said, he didn't have to be a douche when making said point.

Speaking as someone who has watched/played/coached/umpired baseball his entire life, the idea is that you don't concern yourself about the runner on base when you're up by three runs. You focus on getting the batter out. If that run scores, big deal...you're still up by 2. I know what you're saying too but the problem is nothing is foolproof and hindsight is extremely 20/20.

Also from an 'insider'. That focus weebs is talking about is for the pitchers benefit. He should be focused on the hitter, and if a high leg kick is better for him than a slide step he should not be altering his best form just to hold the runner.  

that makes sense...it would just seem to me that with less than 2 outs, you should be concerned about each possible run since a big inning can develop quickly.  That being said, you're right about hindsight being 20/20

again, it was more me venting but I appreciate the input
