CHAR +5 Does anyone but me think that the oddsmaker could put Miami as a 7-10 pt fave vs. Char and still get money on the Heat no matter who plays?

This game means absolutely nothing to the Heat, but for the Bobcats it could be one of the highlights of the season in front of the home fans. Even though LeBron and Wade are unlikely to play here tonight – and Mario Chalmers is also likely out – that won’t change the fact that this team beat the World Champs, and it will give them something to hang their hats on heading into the offseason. We aren’t saying bet the moneyline here or anything, after all, the Heat still have a nice lineup even with the roster subtractions tonight. However, we just don’t see any motivation here for the road team, and this is a Charlotte team that most teams overlook anyways and just figure the game will be a “gimmie”. There is just a huge motivational edge for the Bobcats tonight. And, guess what? The Bobcats have been playing pretty good at home lately. They are 5-1 in their last six, with the only loss coming by one point against Detroit. This team has some very loyal fans, and the team would love nothing more than to give them a win against Miami as the season winds down. And two weeks ago the LeBron James version of this team beat Charlotte by 30+ in South Beach, and that should add to the motivation for the home team tonight.

When the Flames lose, which is often these days, they really lose. Calgary has dropped six of its past eight games with all those losses being by two goals or more. Most of those were before they cleaned house and now these weak travelers will have to go back on the road where they have three wins in 16 games. Over their past two games and without the services of Jerome Iginla and Jay Bouwmeester, the Flames have been outscored 12-3. Then there’s Miikka Kiprusoff. Clearly, his head is not in this thing. Kiprusoff’s intentions are to retire after this season. He’s under contract and will play out the string but the season’s end cannot come quick enough for him. Kiprusoff is the confirmed starter for this one but will show up in body only. The Flames are a complete and utter mess right now, having to face the NHL’s hottest club. San Jose has reeled off six in a row while outscoring the opposition over that span by a count of 21-7. The Sharkies are now in fifth place in the West just a point behind the fourth place Kings and that’s key, as fourth place will get home ice advantage in the playoffs in the first round. The Sharkies cannot afford to take their eyes off the task at hand here. They have a mentally and physically wounded guest coming in with Dallas and Columbus on deck. San Jose really has a chance to move up even more in the standings and it’s highly doubtful this guest will get in its way. The Flames are finished for the year. They’ve already quit while the Sharkies are just getting started.

The Kings are still the champs and they just might be as difficult to defeat in this year’s playoffs as they were in last year’s. From our perspective, they are still the team to beat. That said, the Kings are just not winning enough games and Jonathan Quick has been too shaky for them to be in this price range over this dangerous guest. Los Angeles is just 4-4 over its past eight games. Returning home from a five-game road trip in their last game, the Kings beat Minnesota 3-0 but managed just 14 shots on net. L.A. has the Ducks on deck in Anaheim tomorrow and after taking three out of a possible four points from the Oil this season, there are no scores to settle here. The Kings are in the middle of the pack in the NHL standings. In that regard, they are in the same place as many other teams including Detroit, Toronto, Ottawa, Minnesota and St. Louis. The Kings are not in playoff mode yet and until that switch is turned on, a tag like this one against them is worth taking.

The Oilers are three points back of the Blues for the final playoff spot in the West. They can’t afford to take a shift off, let alone a game. This young and talented group is determined to make the playoffs, meaning a strong effort from every player is very likely. There is more to like about the Oilers also. Edmonton is 4-0 in their last four games playing on one day’s rest and that applies here. The Oilers also scored four goals or more in four straight games, totaling 22 goals over that span before being shutout in Vancouver on Thursday. They’ve also allowed two goals or less in four of their past six. Frankly, the Oilers are playing too well to ignore taking back a tag like the one offered here in a game they most certainly are capable of winning.

WASH WIZARDS +4

This is an excellent spot to back the Washington Wizards tonight. They come in on two days’ rest since a loss at Toronto, so they’ll be well-rested and ready to go as they host the Indiana Pacers Saturday.

This is a great spot to fade the Pacers because they’ll be playing the second of a back-to-back tonight. They’re in a big letdown spot after losing to Western Conference power Oklahoma City last night.

The Wizards have been playing well over the past couple months while going under the radar in the process. They have been way undervalued, especially at home where they are 23-8-1 ATS in their last 32 games. The Wizards are 33-16-2 ATS in their last 51 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record.

This play falls into a system that is 64-31 (67.4%) ATS since 1996. It tells us to bet on home underdogs (WASHINGTON) – double revenge – 2 straight losses vs. opponent against opponent off an upset loss by 10 points or more as a home favorite. Bet the Wizards Saturday.

Too bad for the negative element that exists on forums. I will continue to be a big fan! Keep up the GREAT work! NHL has been kicking my butt :( 

Think i will wait right before post time and see if i can get Wichita St at +6.5 for 1st half, it is at +6 now.Still looking at todays card.

Never did find out what happened to either of them. Mcshady was on twitter for a while, but then he's gone. It's like they disappeared off the face of the earth!

Dallas -3

The Dallas Mavericks aren’t quite ready to pack it in yet. They still have a chance for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference as they trail the Los Angeles Lakers by three games.

While Dallas is still alive, Portland (33-43) has been officially eliminated. It has been playing like it over the last few weeks, too. The Blazers are 0-7 SU & 0-6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall, losing each game by 10 points or more.

This play falls into a system that is 33-10 (76.7%) ATS over the last 5 seasons. It tells us to bet on home underdogs of 3.5 to 9.5 points (PORTLAND) – after 3 or more consecutive losses, in April games.

Dallas is 8-1 ATS in road games versus horrible foul drawing teams – attempting <=21 free throws/game this season. Portland is 1-9 ATS after allowing 55 points or more in the first half in 2 straight games this season. The Blazers are 0-8 ATS in home games after playing 2 consecutive games as an underdog this season. Bet the Mavericks Sunday.
