Yes parlays are for a fool. I do play them every so often like tonight and won 470.00 from a 3 teamer...Pitt, Bal, Arz.

In the long run however they will knock you out ..

Saying that taking a home team RL is "giving the advantage back to the books" is a misstatement IMO.  The fact that you will have to do it with three less outs is most certainly factored into the line.  If what you said is true that wouldn't you be in fact be "taking the advantage from the book" if you played all road teams +1.5?
