i agree that it would be harder for GSP to take down silva who is very mobile, bigger, and GSP has to fear Silvas crazy strikes and kicks.  Lets not forget Silva is quicker and more powerful than Alves and GSP had a 6 inch reach advantage over Alves and that will be the total opposite against Silva.

GSP is sick, my fav but lets not get carried away.  Alves lost to Fitch who was taking him down... Alves is maybe 10 pounds heavier over GSP... GSP is the best wrestler according to Joe and i agree with him in all of MMA but that doesnt mean he can move up weightclasses with ease.   This isnt the UFC when Gracie was in.  Moving up weight classes is very hard, dynamics are totally different.

When did Penn fight Machida?  exactly, Machida has improved greatly since then.   Trust me, i would love to see GSP beat up on bigger fighters but him moving up to 205 and fighting machida, i can guarantee you, not one pro or writer would think GSP had a good chance of winning.

in the world????  hes good but im not convinced thats true.... i disagree alves is known for his take down defense.... an over the hill hughes took down alves with ease until he met thiagos knee......  and penn was fat in that fight but he wasnt cut when he fought gsp either... my point is u either give both fighters credit for beating him or neither

i disagree with ur alves assessment alves was flat out taken down everytime he went to kick gsp..... the overpowering part was when alves was able to back to his feet from his back alves was stronger than gsp......  and my point with penn was he wasnt in great shape for either fight

i 100% agree with you, GSP has the best takedowns. No doubt about that...  but if he were to move up divisions, the harder and harder it becomes.  A guy can be a shittier fighter than you but if he is much stronger and bigger which those guys at 185/205 are, those two factors play a huge role.  That is why guys like Diego Sanchez and Swick moved down in weight.  Even though they had good records at their previous weight classes, they realized how much different a weight class can make, they would be the bigger fighters now.  Swick was overwhelmed he said with Okamis strength and size and that was the reason he moved down from middleweight to welterweight.

how was machida vs ortiz garbage??? he kept his distance and fought a smart fight.....  not to mention the fact he had tito pinned agaisnt the cage and would have finished him in the first round if not for the bell

i admit he was tentative in that fight, but he seems to be more comfortable in the octagon now...... the beatdown he put on rashad was ridiculous........ what did rashad throw in the fight 1  three punch flury????

i am just basing my opinion on what i have seen....  i dont have a 5 fight minimum or anything...  and from what ive seen  machida is unbelievable and i think he will run thru the 205 weight class just like gsp has at 170.....  i dont think rampage can beat him, in fact rampage should have been fighting him next instead of shogun(who doesnt even deserve this shot) but instead chose to go coach tuf instead of fighting for the belt........ i think that says enough.......... until somebody figures out how to attack machidas unique style successfully the 205 class is in trouble!
