"The Zone" was 1/2 hour the first 3 seasons, shelved when they couldn't find enough sponsors, and was replaced by an hour long comedy show. The show floundered, and TZ was brought back in as a "replacement" for the very show it was canceled for (this almost sounds like a Zone episode, doesn't it?), and had to be "stretched" to make the hour time slot. Everyone hated it, and TZ came back for a fifth, final season, in the traditional 1/2-hour format.

Just watched one with......Lee Marvin....Lee Van Cleef.....Strother Martin.....and James Best (Rosco P Coltrane / Andy Griffith)....
  *amazing how great these were / they had an extremely low budget
 
That episode with Ellie Mae (Donna Douglas)....as a hot chick regarded as hideous by the pig faced people really creeped me out

That Outer Limits scared the hell outta me as a kid........

the TZ is cult sci-fi, Rod Sterling was wayyyyy ahead of his time. always looking for reruns to view
