Just because it's March 9th and you haven't paid your rent doesn't mean I'm ill.
I understand the concept you are talking about but it really does come to money management.
I am above average in winning as are a lot of people around here. The problem for most is investing every bet with purpose and not impulse.
I am sincerely and truthfully up over the last 12+ years and just had a payout less than a month ago. After starting with a clean slate I have 400% growth on my money as we speak.
OP said something about about doubling up after a bad loss and in my opinion is the #1 thing to avoid.
I have seen people ruin their entire lives and I believe through watching them first hand is why the $ management comes easier for me.
Ride or Die
I honestly would have believed this until the "Ride or Die" part.

detox you are a suicidal Realtor who has never sold a house.
sorry i cant be in your loser fuck up club
I would honestly do the reality thing if I had the know how and start up capital. In a way it is similar to sport wagering. The exception would be that you get paid every month if you hit a winning house as oppose to one time with a winning team or total.

I think the point of this thread is that we're all losers in the end. Even if you win money, the amount of time and energy it takes to make a substantial amount to feel "rich" isn't worth it. You'd make more in a career in less time.
This is only if you look at Sports Handicapping as a potential career. Most people have hobbies and a lot of people want to be competitive. This is a way to satisfy both. Some people pay money to play World of Warcraft for hours on end. Obviously sports wagering has the potential to impact the bank balance more so than WOW. But some of those guys literally lock themselves in their rooms for weekends at a time and just eat shitty food and never see day light. Honestly what is worse?
For most of us this is a hobby. For some it will become problematic. For some it will be fun. For some they will make a few bucks off of it. And for a very few they will make a living off of it. Just take it for what it's worth. You are taking your love of sports and adding in a way for you to compete in them. If you are able to contain yourself and not bet above your head than what is wrong with making this your hobby?

Gambling is just a game, a form of entertainment. Some of us think we are smarter than everyone else, others chase the thrill of winning. If you stay in control and not bet $ you can't afford to lose, it is a harmless diversion. Better to blow your $ in bars?

Do any of you guys realize how big sports is to the economy? I doubt it. Its somewhere between the 3rd and 5th{cant remember which one it was } highest industry that plays a role in our whole economy. Didnt none of you find it amazing how fast that ref story went away and how fast the guy went to jail? That story should have been in the news for a long time, but the truth is our govt has a huge interest in not wanting the public to think games are rigged by players and refs, because if it ever came out that this shit was happening constantly, you can bet your ass that would be the end of sports and all the jobs and money that play a role in our economy would be gone. Just think about how many jobs all the way down to the guy cleaning toilets somewhere are involved in the sports industry. The number is staggering when you think about it.
Lastly for anybody to sit here and believe people arent rigging games, just means that you are living life with blinders on and dont really have a grasp about our society and about us humans. Since the human race has been on the planet, they have wanted money and would do anything to get it. Simple fact is HUMANS + MONEY = CORRUPTION if you dont believe that, you are a lost cause in this world. So let take a college basketball player. 99 percent of the players who play college ball will never ever sniff an nab paycheck and thats a fact. Most of the kids in school will leave college with phony degrees that they never earned, so most wont be able to get jobs in their degree fields. So you would have to be totally crazy to think that these kids are planning their own retirement accounts while they are in college, because that is probably going to be the last time in their lives they will have the ability to actually make easy cash, by throwing some games. It really doesnt take much for players to miss shots. I know alot of you dont want to believe that this stuff is taking place and to that i say its time for you to get your heads out of your asses and open your highs to the society we live in and how the dollar bill is the most important thing in our society. cd

400% growth... I can't believe I'm the first person to call him out on this. Kelly, you should stop barking about you're winning ways because you have no credibility after a comment like that

You ever just stick to the sport you know best?
Not much of a Basketball guy at all, burned out on rotisserie baseball yrs agoand have hardly followed that since. I rarely play anything but ML or PL hockey. Never play totals in any sport. I pound the shit out of those two bets ML/PL all season. Then focus on poker during off season. Summer is for the BEACH the OCEAN and BEER. Works pretty good for me.
