The flu

Came down with a bug this morning. Fever, chills, headache, vomiting, the whole nine yards. Just had a flu shot three weeks ago so I'm hoping it will help alleviate and or shorten the sickness. This blowz. Can't even take a couple ambien to knock myself out. Keep dry heaving everything back up. I'm one hurting cowboy Covers brothers.

Hey guys all three of us are getting up there in age. Flu can be deadly for old Pharts like us. Dehydration also a problem if you can't keep anything in your stomach.

pedialyte man it for children electrolytes though will help with the dehydration....

Thanks for the encouraging words Covers brothers. Lucky to have two properties so I can keep my wife and son hopefully isolated from this nasty bug. Of course this means I'm on my own here. Got my trusty Rottweiler, Major, with me. He's funny. Never seen me sick like this before and knows I am hurting. Major doesn't have anything but a bone a ball and a squeaking toy. He brought them up to me in bed and gave them to me. He doesn't have much but he was willing to give these simple things to me and try to make me feel better. Some encouraging news from last night. Was able to keep some sips of ginger ale down which allowed me to drop two ambien and two xanax at 2am and got three hours of needed sleep. Baby steps from here. Next will try to keep some dry toast down without barfing. Cold compress on my head seems to bring the fever down slightly. Still got the chills so far from out of the woods yet. Baby steps and I can slowly get out of this funk. Hope to be able to enjoy some bowl games today, something that was impossible just yesterday.

That's the trouble with pills, especially ambien. You are only supposed to take one a night. What happens is your body builds up a tolerance and you feel the need to drop two or three and a couple xanax too. For sure it's a slippery slope. And I like my Irish whiskey too which can be a lethal cocktail. Not drinking yesterday made it an easy decision to mix the four pills and get some sleep. I know you are correct because I just turned 60 and I'll never make it to 65 if I don't stop partying like it's 1999. I'm at a crossroads of my life (pun intended).

If you don't feel better tomorrow (Like a lot better) you better go to the walk-in clinic..Sucks yes..or you could feel like garbage next 3 weeks.

Seems to be my pattern and I've never had such severe garbage as you have described..Just the chills and fever but only way to knock it out is antibiotics.I avoid DRs at all costs btw.After a couple weeks though you need some kind of script. GL

Some good news today. Kept two slices of dry toast down and the barfing has subsided. Going to attempt some motzaball soup, yep, the good ole Gewish penicillin. Cold compress has kept my head temp in check but still have chills. Guys, do all you can to avoid this nasty bug. I wash my hands constantly with the alcohol rub and still this bug got to me. Looking back it might have been a grocery cart at the supermarket. My best friend, who is Irish, loves that TD but I prefer Bushmills or Jamesons

Pulled muscle in my back at work while on a 12ft ladder....   took all I could to get down without falling.  Once my feet touched the ground I went down in a heap flailing around like a fish out of water...  20 minutes before I could sit up straight.  Barely able to drive home... now just sitting in my own personal hell   

Most of the viruses and bacterias floating around out there settle in the intestines before spreading throughout the body. Piss them off and they'll spray lasagna all over the walls.
