SYDNEY (AP) - Mamma mia! That's a lot of dough, even for an upscale pizzeria.
Police are looking for the
owner of a suitcase "full of money" that was left at the Italian
restaurant in Sydney by a mystery customer.
Ten Network television
reported the suitcase left at Cafe Marco Tuesday morning contained about
1 million Australian dollars ($1 million) in 50 dollar notes.
But police will only describe the suitcase contents as "a significant amount of cash."
Detective Inspector Ian
Pryde told reporters a man around 30 years old wearing surfing shorts
and a singlet carried the suitcase into the cafe. He then "seemed to get
spooked" and left without the money.
A cafe staff member contacted by telephone told The Associated Press she was too busy with customers to comment.

It would take something more than a "spooking" for me to leave a million bucks in a suitcase at a pizzeria.
This begs the question.....if you were the person who found this, would you turn it in?? SALTY has already chimed in with a completely predictable answer.
I am the type of person who would turn in a $20 bill if I found it in a parking lot of a store. But $1M would change your life. No more worrying about retirement. You could quit your job and do something you loved....even if it was for less money. That would be very hard to turn down.
So let's have it. Would you keep the money or turn
it in?

Turns out it had $120,000 in it...fell off the truck when the guys went to fill up the ATM that morning....and yes she turned it in cuz "she didn't want the guy to get fired".....lady that guy got fired "real" quick anyways.....

Well you can count on one thing.....if I find a suitcase with a million in it......It will never make the news.
It could be Mr Samsonite's from Aspen, CO
I second that. Nobody would know. Nobody. Not my family. Not my fiancee. Not my best friends that I've known for 20+ years. I would not change any spending habits (noticeably). It's unfortunate that you couldn't invest that. Or maybe there's a way you could. Have never researched that. There's got to be a way you could purchase a significant amount of gold if that's the route you wanted to go.

You certainly would have to think on your feet quickly to avoid getting discovered. And you are risking your life. Is it worth it? Could you pull it off? How smart is the person that lost it and would he be able to track you down? Maybe you get away with it, and maybe you don't. Maybe you and your entire family dies.
No doubt the "safe" thing to do is turn it in. But you will never get ahead in life if you don't gamble here and there. Everyone out there that has achieved success (whatever he thinks that is) has gambled and lost. But he has also gambled and won. Part and partial because he has learned from his losses.
Besides... the safe route is never the fun route! We're here on this planet for about the blink of an eye. I would have to take the risk.
