1) Gambling
When you've got money on the game, you just don't watch it the same way
anymore. Initially I started betting on sports because I enjoyed watching
sports. The whole idea of making the game more exciting by throwing a few
bucks down seemed like great entertainment. That was at the
beginning. But the more invested I got, the less important the actual
game became to me. All I cared about was the final score.
I've had nights where I've sat in front of computer looking at box scores
without even taking a glimpse at any game on TV. Hell, I enjoyed that
just as much. Again, all that mattered was the final score.
2) Access With all the access that these leagues provide fans these days, do we even
need to bother watching anymore? I have the MLB.tv app on my phone and I
am able to watch highlights in HD 5 minutes after it happened. I also
have some nifty little apps that update me of any score changes mere seconds
after someone gets a TD or a goal.
So again, why do I need to bother watching the game anymore?Everything
is delivered right to my pocket.

I think it boils down to a few key factors.
1) Gambling

3) Information/The Media These leagues have given fans so much information about the game that most
fans have educated themselves. Sports are being covered from so many
different angles these days by so many different people. Everyone has an
opinion. We no longer need to listen to the "experts" on ESPN
dissect the game from every anglebecause somebody else will do it and
probably do a better job of it.
4) Interviews/Routine Is anyone else tired of hearing the same pre-game, mid-game, post game
interview with all of these athletes and coaches? The same
questions being asked over and over and always the same boring responses."Gotta work harder!" , "Gotta
contain that guy" , "Just have to bounce back and keep pushing"It's the same sh*t again and again. These athletes sound like robots
these days. Does nobody have a unique personality anymore?!
5) How much better can they get?
How much better can athletes get?
Over the last twenty years or so, these athletes have learned to push
themselves to levels never seen before. They are maximizing their bodies
as much as they can in order to reach the top. It leaves me wondering
just how much more is left. What can Lebron James possibly do to make his
tank of a body even better?
Just how much better can future athletes get?
6) We've seen it all...
We've seen it all. We really have. What more is left to
see?
Nobody is going to revolutionize these sports any more than they already are. It's been done. It's all been done before.
Nothing left to excite or look forward too.
And even if something exciting does happen, we can just watch it on YouTube the next day.
The End.

I agree. I can only tolerate football and can't be bothered to invest the time to wager on sports. To be a good gambler, you need to eat, sleep and breath this stuff.
I think as you get older, priorities take over and you realize watching all these sports serves zero purpose and rather you just pissed away your night watching dudes making millions for playing a game.
My old man once said...we live in a world where everything is repeated. So if you miss it once, don't you worry, it'll come around again. Hate it when he's right and I ignored it for so long. Clubs, chicks, sports...all these things have you giving up your time and money for maybe a good memory in return (usually just an average night). Rather now I spend my time making money, buying garbage I want, family, friends, vacations. To me, stuff that matters.
I only watch the NFL b/c I play fantasy football. Other than that, I'd get bored.

It's obvious to me you aren't betting enoughmoney on the games. Tonight I'm going to watch OKC/Houston on MUTE while I listen to Baltimore Orioles/Seattle on the radio. Needless to say I'm not a FAN of any of them.

Most of these teams I really don't care about. Also, the better teams could give a crap less until the 4th quarter. Absolutely no point in watching any of the game until there's about 7-8 mins to go in the 4th.
And yes, like with most people, once you've been betting on sports for years, you really can't watch a game for fun anymore.
I've watched enough Akron vs. Florida International football games in my life.

I think it's just the basketball.

Football is great because there are so many games going on at once. Commercial? Change to another game or flip on redzone.
However, a single football game is so slow with all the timeouts. Score a TD go to a time out, kickoff, go to a time out, play review go to a time out. College is even worse...games are usually 4.5 hours.
Attending any game is incredibly boring. Sitting in the bleachers at a college game is the worst especially when you can't buy beer (i know you can sneak in but still).

Another problem is the media's insistence on making TEAM sports all about two or three individuals, which takes away from TEAM sports. It started with Jordan, and got worse with Favre, and is now even worse with Brady, Tebow, Kobe, and Lebron. The teams they play for--let alone against--just don't matter to the media. And with the 24-hr sports coverage, hearing these same names so often is wretched..

In addition to that, I have trouble rooting for what really are the .01% of all income earners in the world.
I'm not envious, but contract disputes when they are fighting for an extra $10 million on a $130 million makes me laugh.
Also, when they lose, how do you feel bad for them? They live lives far beyond anything anyone could imagine in terms of wealth.
Lastly, how do you cheer for teams with so much turnover? Let's say you are a spoiled lakers fan. Kobe will be gone in two years and Dwight might leave (who isn't even a 'real' laker) as will Pau leave. They have ONE player under contract after next year...Nash, and he's not even a true laker, which leaves you cheering for one thing: the laundry.
And who wants to cheer for 'laundry' over the long term?
For once, I agree with you. The mid nineties started killing pro sports from the fans perspective. If you watech in the 70-80s, you knew who was gonna be on your favorite team next year (90%) of the time. Free agency and $ is slowly deteriorating (year after year) all sports. Kids growing up today are going to be less interested in it simply because their parents are becoming less interested in it. The money is out of hand already, but of course these guys keep thinking they are worth more and more. Cap should be set at 1 million, which is roughly what a successful doctor makes. You can throw a fast ball 98 mph but you cant to brain surgery? Heres a million bucks. Granted, people dont go to hospitals to get a 3 hour break from reality and have a few beers and hot dogs and watch doctors do their jobs.....
College football and basketball and the NFL are the only things I can stand to watch anymore. MLB and NBA are just god awful slow. Commercial after commercial.

You can't buy beer at a college football game? Wtf is the point of going then? I've only been to UNLV games and yes it's usually a shitty game, but at least you can buy beer. Is it like that everywhere? If so why? Is it the same for college basketball across the country? Once again only rebels games, but still can buy any alcohol you want.

did some research. only 21 college football programs sell beer at games. only 11 are on campus. I went to a big10 school and only 4 of them even sell beer in the suites. at least Purdue let you go out to your car during halftime to slam a few (and do a hitter and a bump).
went to the united center for the first round of the ncaa tourney few years ago...had a nice buzz from stopping at a bar before hand, i full expected to buy beer. NOPE no beer, suffered through the 19 planned game stoppages before leaving after the first game. BRUTAL
