I won't tell you my unit so don't even ask... I will tell you that it varries depending on what goal I am trying to accomplish and what sport I am betting on....

There are much easier, less stressful ways to make a living...

              Koaj-It's interesting that the stock market is considered legit with no stigma attached to it and sports betting isn't! I lost more money after 911 then I ever will sports betting! My financial guy at AG Edwards loves stocks because you can make between 12-18% I do much better with gambling! The problem is alot of people are not disciplined and get carried away with games, drink too much and blow 1,2 maybe 5g's on one bet...Then chase it and then chase that! You don't see many stock traders chasing!

I wager on NCAA football, NFL, NCAA basketball, NBA, and MLB for a living.  It can be done, you must be disciplined, have a plan, and stick to it.  You also must be realistic.  My goal is to double my bankroll in a calendar year, and I flat bet 2% of my starting bankroll for the year.

if it weren't for us degenerates, what would become of these sports empires.  Do any of you remember the days when the NBA playoffs used to be shown tape delayed after the 11 pm news?

because I was tired of watching "my teams" get hammered each season, so started betting against them so I got at least some enjoyment out of the experience

as a derivatives trader I like the research and line movements and point spread to money line conversions that gambling offers. I like to win when I can obviously. I also have been trying to develop a simulation machine via excel and all of the different variables that have to be punched into the equation keeps the mind sharp

Because it's my Job...It's what I do for a living.  And I don't look at it as gambling.  It's more like sports investing.

 I think you gotta be betting at least $5,000 a game to come out enough ahead where you are making a decent living.

Gambling is probably the most exciting thing out there for some of us.  There's nothing like putting some cash on a game and coming out ahead.   I'm actually big into horse racing, that's the most exciting gambling of all in my mind.

When I did, I enjoyed it because I was like an independent contractor who was telecommuting from home or the beach, being my own boss, with minimal paper-pushing, do some independent research and analysis (much info/data provided by covers.com props!), and it provided either a maximal gain or a maximal loss.  I had the freedom to pick what "jobs" I was interested in and avoided those that I had no interest in.

Also permanently skewed my perspective on any sporting event for the rest of my life. However, this past MNF, throws out all of my prior assumptions about sporting events and their outcomes.

Still just a flip of the coin.
