Suddenly, Chrissy Hynde and The Pretenders come to mind.
I went to a party not too long ago. A girl shows up, she was looking for her friend that lived across the street from the party. We start talking to her, she said she had just spent 30 days in Tent City for DUI. Talked about how much she hated it. She was drinking before she got to the party, had a couple of drinks at the party, and was on her way to another party and making plans to go out to a club after the game. (it was the Super Bowl).
As bad as she said those 30 days in jail were, she was driving all over the place after drinking. It makes no sense to me why she would take the chance of going back to jail. Some people no matter what you do, or what happens to them, just don't get it.
Even after talking to this girl, I still think the time spent in jail should be tough, it should be a place people don't want to go back to. If she did go back someday I would not feel sorry for her.
Sheriff Joe is not the greatest. Most people either really love him or really hate him. He does love to do thing to get on the news. I think he has done good and bad. One of the good things is him being tough on DUI, because I think it has changed the way MOST people think before they get behind the wheel after drinking.

I am not sure about all the facts on them paying out the 200K, but I did hear on the news the driver of the 2 guys was not carrying a driver's license. I would think that it would have been easier to ID him if he had been carrying a license.

It could be reasonable cause/suspicion if they were at the location of the raid. I would think that if a person is at a company that is being raided and they are not a legal citizen they would try of leave.
Maybe they were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. It has happened to me before where I was close to an area where a crime had taken place and I was stopped and questioned by the police.

After finding more info about this it does seem they were held too long and were not treated very well while held for the 3 hours. They should be paid and it is too bad they don't know which deputies they were dealing with so they could be suspended.'
IMO this was not a case a racial profiling. They were at the wrong place at the wrong time, and if he had been carrying his driver's license at the time ( which he should have he was driving ) they would not have been detained
