Is that legal what that waiter did by taking a picture of the receipt? Even if it is legal if I'm the owner of that restaurant I get rid of that waiter. Word will get out if you leave a bad tip it will be publicized. People will stop going to that restaurant.

I've seen athletes and celebs tip sh!tty many times, the only difference between them and the average joe is they feel more entitled and treat you like crap more often on a percentage basis than the average customer.

true.  Of course I do not know what the service was like in this scenario.  But regardless of wealth if a server is bad and just shows all around disinterest than he/she should not be receiving a good tip.

He may or may not be cheap.......but if the waiter was an asshole, and the fact we now know about this indicates that he is....well, he probably didn't deserve much of a tip.

Shitty service does not merit a good tip......Good service merits a good tip.

 

And I spent several years as a bartender and appreciate the wonderful world of tipping.........some athletes tip shitty, some tip well, just like the rest of the population.

Why does everyone expect athletes and celebreties to tip some giant amount? 

10% is low, but we do know the situation and this definitely doesnt make Hillis a bad guy...if it is a repeated habit that is different, but a lot of variables go into one meal.   Who knows, maybe he had some cash on him and left it at the table?

Just think it is wrong for everyone to expect more from people who have money...I guess it is the entitlement theory of our society.  Do expect anything...go earn it.

most servers i know or have worked with suffer from entitlement syndrome or have expectations about what kind of tip they think they should get.  If you go in knowing some will tip like shit and some will tip well and it pretty much evens out in the end, you will be just fine.  It's having that expectation thing that trips up so many and turns them into whiny bitches.

What the fuck is with all these threads about athletes/actors not tipping 25% or whatever is "expected?"   What if the waiter was a total dick, sucked at his job, and ASSUMED he would get a generous top since he was serving a millionaire? 

Fuck the waiter for taking this picture.  It was probably one of his biggest tips that night..

I normally tip 10-15% depending on how much cash I carry, who I am with.
