*5K would suit you nicely.............in a federal prison
Tokyo....Amsterdam....Prague....Cabo.......... *in Tokyo you would be a broke person in 2-3 weeks
Thailand even would be very tough.... 5K - (1200 -1500) for airfare....would leave you about 300/month to live on....meaning >> no AC....no women...and most importantly....no BEER
Keep in mind you have to renew your visa every 3 months or so......costing $50+ * go to Cambodia or Laos....get your passport stamped....apply for re-entry to LOS (land of smiles)
If you are going to work???.....bring your diploma or transcripts....you can get a job most anywhere teaching English... and make $800-1200 per month...now meaning you can go out some and travel on weekends (train/bus/van travel super cheap) *note > if you speak no Thai .....being a farang (foreigner) you will pay more....shopping/taxis/restaurants/street vendors....as they will assume you are rich.............
In SE Asia....your dollar will go slightly further in....Cambodia > Laos > Malaysia > Vietnam *the Philippines maybe the best option...cheaper than Thailand > much more English spoken > beer is cheaper > women more desperate (they will still like you if you are poor.....)
Other options would be central America > Belize...Panama...Honduras....Nicaragua...Costa Rica *Belize maybe the best ....Costa Rica ain't cheap (used to be)
It is better to be feared - than to be loved.

Speaking of Thailand.... seems like we have a few here that like to train hard....fight too maybe?.......
Haven't done it myself...but I do know many that have gone to Muay Thai camps to train..all said it was easily the best thing they had ever done...or close
1st option would be the touristy /resort style camps....geared to the farang that speaks no Thai...and has some cash and just wants to say he did it.... *still tough work..especially in the heat but done by the hour/session...
At the other end is the rural (some urban) more primitive camps that are tough for foreigners to get into..you hang out / meet some Thais / learn the language...show some skills and you've got a shot....especially if you promise to fight in an upcoming match...(as Thais love to watch a farang getting his azz beat by a Thai) *best to live on site (if serious)...but you don't have to....costs are around $25 a day inclusive....some much more but a few will train you for free if they like you and you are highly recommended by a respected Thai..
Unless already a fighter and in great shape...a camp somewhere in between might be better...Fairtex in Bangkok and Pattaya...Tiger...Sinbi or Rawai in Phuket... *Koh Samui..Chiang Mai...Pai are other cool places with top camps
It is better to be feared - than to be loved.
