Tough one. He's going to do time, but it really shouldn't be anything too massive. I'd say 2-3 years is right. It's not murder. He didn't plan it, didn't intend to kill the guy. Self-defense might be a stretch. I mean, you could push a guy and if he fell the wrong way he might die. And it's not like it was unprovoked. But if you're gonna throw a punch, you gotta consider that it could land you in trouble.

It depends on the evidence. what's funny/insulting about a black person with a yellow shirt ?

More evidence on exactly what happened by other witnesses wiill come out. Imo, Hawkins wasnt being physically threatened by what has been reported so far. By Massie putting his hands in his pockets, there was nothing to show that Hawkins was about to be struck.
Looks like Hawkins will get involuntary manslaughter charges brought on him. Depending on how good the lawyers are on either side & if other evidence comes out, he could be charged with manslaughter.

Not everyone can take a hit to the head like others... I had a friend who was on a creeper under a car working and rolled out and bumped his head on the bumper and balcked out for a few seconds and then stood up and after a few seconds passed out and died... Broke a blood vessel in his brain from the impact...

My comment revolved around "Geedogs" (obvious alias) comment "typical".
This is NOT at all TYPICAL! - Of course different people have different thresholds of pain and ability to endure trauma.
Some people have a glass chin and some people can take a beating like Homer Simpson.
The point is that this is RARE.
