All of this concern over the environment is useless. The entire "green" movement (trend really) isn't even delaying the inevitable. It will end up serving no purpose because the world's oil supply is running out. Faster and faster it goes with each passing day. When it is gone, we are going to be living in a giant world of shit and there is no stopping this.
OIL RUNS THE WORLD. Everything you do revolves around oil whether you realize it or not. Everything you buy and use was brought to you by petro products. In 50 years, it will mostly be all gone and this western way of life will seem like it was buried lights years in the past.
There are no alternatives to oil. Add up each one (biofuel, solar, battery, etc) and they only add up to a tiny fraction of the immense power oil brings to the table. Not to mention, the alternative fuel sources all have huge drawbacks of their own.
Mother Nature is going to get some serious revenge when humans are stripped of their ability to ass-rape her on a daily basis. Hopefully, we don't have most of the plant and animal species killed off before the time comes - Then, after time, we could actually live in a beautiful world again.

After 2 hours last night at a disaster meeting last night we were told the command group that is making decisions about deploying assets is made up and headed by BP and the DEP and Coast Guard. We were also told that the exact position of the"assets" (oil booms, absorption booms etc) are UNKNOWN at this time but they will be in place by the time the spill reaches the Florida coast.
We were also told it would be in violation of federal law to take any private pro-active measures with the approval of the "command" structure in Mobile Alabama.
A question was asked by a local business owner of a RV park on the bay that happens to own enough private boom to string his entire bay front property that it would be Illegal to do so with prior authorization from the "command" group. Violations are subject to Arrest and federal prosecution for violating some Oil act........we were told that there would be an effort on enforcement and that violaters would be quickly arrested.
When asked for list of names and contact persons on the committee or how one would apply for permission to deploy private assets we were told that the committee members names were not being released to protect there personal privacy.

....BP is also trying to deploy a “dome” to capture the
oil as it comes out of the ocean floor. That involves dropping a giant
steel box over the well and pumping the oil from the box up to the
surface where it can be collected in a tanker. The technique has worked
before, but it’s never been tried in water as deep as the BP well.
On
Tuesday, BP said it expected to have the dome in place on the seabed
Thursday and would have it hooked up to a drill ship over the weekend.
Let's hope this works.. This only slows/eliminates the flow of oil from the well. Still have to pray mother nature helps keep most of the oil slick already out there, off our shores .

A week after this tragedy I've heard no theory or interview with the 100+ employees on the rig. The media's not doing their job as usual. What happened here, oil rigs don't normally spontaneously combust. Why hasn't this been addressed? Was this terrorism?

Drilling a mile below the sea floor can do strange things. It's believed an excessive amount of pressure sent gas/oil up the pipeline to the rig, where it became combustible and caught fire.

Today we were told that perhaps the slick is tightening as dispersals reduce surface oil but smaller globs now in the water colum will travel further distances on the tide and wind and effect more bottom areas and possibly have even a greater negative effect on fish and wildlife, the options are worse and worst, but out of sight out of mind..They speak to us as if we were the most gullible people in the world.. and also like they are experts and know exactly what they are doing every step. When questioned prior to deployment of the booms about the small diameter of the pot warp(rope) that was used to attempt to secure the booms the response was, "this rope is more than sufficent and has been used over and over by cleanup crews". After the gear was set and booms broke away and washed ashore we were told it was a mistake by the disbursement office and that the rope had NOT be inspected prior to disbursement as it should have been and blamed the information officer for improperly stating that they were aware of the size of the rope and that it was sufficent. Nothing like throwing the poor f---ker under the bus.... Hopefully the used the right steel to construct their containment tower, which by the way is hardly a dome... it is a huge welded plate steel tower that looks like it was made by some crude welder in a backyard shop.....certainly NOT HIGH TECH....

The primary objective here is speed & effectiveness 'Fin.... No cares how this "dome" looks.

You are right but we care whether it will work or not and it was manufactured by Halliburton they same folks that failed to pour enough concrete into the drilling cap which is the reason why it blew to begin with....A company like Halliburton that compulsively lies about everything, is who we are trusting here...Never mind the disbursement chemicals that have been pumped into the ocean 160,000 gallons of toxic chemicals that you can not touch, breath or get any on your clothes or skin, the company that manufactures the disbursement chemicals will not divulge what they are, claiming the information is proprietary....but the american people are so dumb if it's out of sight it's out of mind....they have rejected all high tech oil bacteara bugs because they CLAIM they are unproven, that did not stop them from drilling the deepest well ever without a proper geological survey or accurate estimation of the pressure at that depth.......If there attempts should work stemming the flow from the well head they will claim a great victory without a word about what these chemicals will do in ocean for the next 20 years...

It's all a matter of trade offs at this point. There are no easy choices here. We are willing to accept the uncertainty of what the chemical dispersants may bring, as opposed to the known certain damage to ecological, fishing, when it comes ashore.
And make no mistake.. it's already starting to come ashore and will do damage to fishing, tourism. But it's about containment, and minimizing its impact at this point.

I agree Rush 51 the important issue is containment but dispersal without prior knowledge as where the dispersed balls are going to end up is hardly containing the spill. BP is trying to make it invisible to the eye. The high command is only trying to appease the masses in any way possible. Bp and the US government does not want the American people to see a giant growing slick on their TV screens.
They (BP and the high command) avoid all direct questions about any known or possible harm from the chemicals used in disbursement. They will not even tell the scientific community what the chemical make up is.........The WHY is obvious...........
10 minutes ago I saw a dumb redneck with a BP business card and he told me they were all going to get rich that BP was going to pay every last sorry sole who has lost their income or way of life by the spill, this company breeds on the naiveté of the uneducated..

Surface oil can be unidentified and it's affects are obvious and equally devastating but the unknown effect of caustic chemicals that potentially could exist on the ocean floor killing god knows what for god knows how long is EQUALLY devastating and potentially WORSE......
Your argument would be valid if we had ANY knowledge that this approach is less toxic to the environment but we have NONE and those who know will not even tell us what the chemicals are........
BP the US Coast Guard has admitted they do not really know how the watercolum will disperse the broken down oil whether it will join up with the gulf stream or not. They did ONE test prior to the initial use of disbursements where they dumped a dye in the water at depth to try and see what direction it would travel they expected it to move south and east instead it moved West and immediately was seen on shore in the western islands 12 hours later.......

It seems that daily they(supreme command) comes out with new ideas.. without any real way to put them into practice... as of now the containment tower is a flop.. so disbursements and booming to attempt to recover the recoverable and burn the burnable and sink the rest where nobody can see it..is the stratagy...and do it all very quickly before they have to disclose what the chemicals are in the disbursements. After what let's see.....mmm...About 160,000 gallons a day of some unknown shit pumped out at depth for the last 5 days...But not to worry.....no one See's it....nobody knows where or which way even it will go....or where it will end up .....or in what form or degree of toxicity it will have when it gets there........Oh well... What the hell... thats better than if we see it and know where it's going right....??
They are telling people to donate human hair because it is 5 times more absorbent than oil rags and to collect it in lady's nylon stockings... farmers can donate hay bails...but the oil booms well........maybe they will arrive on a truck tomorrow....from that secret manufactures location......People are soooo gullible.
The truth were all f----ed down here in the gulf.... plain and simple..... wrapped up with a nice Halliburton and BP bow....

Oh yeah... I forgot the most important part... for your participation in this dibauchery...BP will send you a check for 5,000 but you must sign a document that says if you get cancer and die from the chemicals you are cleaning up they are not responsible... and better yet they quoted as saying We will handle this spill in the same professional and timely manner we did the Alaskan spill.........21 years
