All of you guys who are bashing JoePa (rightly so) are also complicit in child rape if you are a member of an organized religion. So please don't get all high and mighty unless you are an atheist.

Yes the Pope should be seen in the same light. There is evidence he knew of countless abusive priests. Some even imply he had his jollies as well.

Well, as long as he “did enough to escape any prosecution.”

Because that’s what matters here, right?  Not that Paterno learned that his friend was sexually abusing young boys and went along with the cover up.

Paterno learned this in 2003 (at the very latest).  Sandusky then went onto sexually abuse young boys for the next 6+ years in part because Paterno and others knew about it and did nothing to stop it.

But hey, as long as Paterno “did enough to escape any prosecution,” right?

If they saw a priest sexually abusing children or were told about it by someone that saw it and knew there was a cover up and did nothing…yes.

    Otherwise, that is simply asinine.

Nope, it isn't. It is called institutional responsibility. The institution knows and people who are part of the institution are also complicit.

So if a member of any organized religion lives in California and, unbeknownst to them, a priest molests a boy in Philly that member of the organized religion is as responsible as a boss that knows a guy in his own house is molesting boys and does next to nothing to stop it and then goes along with a cover up?

    Are you fucking kidding?

It is a kind of uncomfortable position to try to defend JoePa in this situation; people make it seem like if you say anything in his defense then you are making excuses for raping children, which is obviously not the case.

However, if a person comes up to you and says he saw someone you've known and trusted for 30 years doing something in the shower, as someone has said before, you better be damn sure that that person was telling the truth before you go to the cops.

To me, much more fault lies with the guy who actually saw it but didn't go to the cops, and with the AD who didnt seem to investigate it any further and even lied about it.

Shame on Joe Pa.  Grand jury report is sickening.  That he knew about this man and didn't do all he could to stop him is shocking.  Sandusky is obviously a sick mother fucker.  How do you sleep at night knowing he is out there abusing these boys?  I've lost all respect for Paterno.

I heard this on ESPN while I was researching games so I could have misheard them, but they said that the little box that walked away from seeing a little boy getting sodomized in the Penn State showers quickly went from being a grad assistant to being the recruitment coordinator.

    Hmm…..

agreed if someone i barely knew came up to me and told me one of my friends of 26 years was fondling little boys, I would be talking to him first or wanting some evidence, the last thing I would do is go straight to the cops, anyone who says otherwises is at the very least a terrible friend.

You’re just making excuses for people who cover up the rape of children.  Much better.

Sandusky had already been accused MULTIPLE TIMES of molesting little boys and according to the attorney general Paterno was told that his friend was sexually abusing young boys in the Penn State showers in 2003.

Paterno did next to nothing about it and then went along with the cover up.

Sandusky continued to sexually abuse young boys up to 2009.

That is 6 years of sexual abuse that could have been stopped if Paterno had acted like a god damn human being and told someone who actually gave a shit.

But nope, Paterno would rather protect the good name (no longer) of his football program than stop his friend from continuing to sexually abuse little boys.

Paterno and anyone else who knew about this and did nothing is a piece of shit.

And if anyone here would have done the same thing they are pieces of shits as well.

So if a guy that worked for you told you that he saw another guy that worked for you (who had already been accused MULTIPLE times of molesting little boys) sodomizing a little boy on company property you would simply tell your ‘boss’ and then when he covered it up you would just go about your business as usual and forget it ever happened?

Wow, what a great human being you are.

I hope you don’t have any kids.

completely false, when Paterno was told in 2003 that was the first time anyone at Penn State had been notified of potential allegations.

Just read all 23 pages released by the Grand Jury investigation.  Pretty graphic.  In academia, image is everything, I don't think Paterno survives this.
