1st off I think Joe Paterno is an old goat and I am not a fan of Penn State football.

But Joe Paterno has been a standup guy in all of this and is being wrongly criticized.

Jerry Sandusky was retired when all this came out. Joe Paterno reported it to his superiors when he was told about it. Joe Paterno is not being accused of lying to the grand jury.

Jerry Sandusky raped little boys. Higher ups lied to the grand jury. Hold these guys accountable. Not Joe Paterno and the current team/staff.

Joe Paterno is a standup guy and I hope he ditches these lawyers and speaks out on his own.

any person that was even slightly aware of the abuse of those boys and brushed it aside as if their own issues were more important than the well being of the boys and the swift bringing of justice to sandusky, is a fucking criminal.  end of story

He fucking reported it like he was supposed to.

Joe Pa didn't rape any little boys. He didn't lie about anything when he was questioned by the grand jury.

Joe Paterno is not the criminal here.

This is not a football issue, you don't report this to an athletic director as though Sandusky got caught buying a recruit a steak dinner... He was raping and abusing little boys, which should have been reported to the police. Paterno, and anyone who knew what was happening should be ashamed of themselves, especially the assistant coach who walked in and saw Sandusky having sex with a ten year old boy in the shower, then ran away, instead of physically stopping it.... This is sickening

If that was a child of yours im sure you would be upset he did not go to the police.

With that said, they say that state students are planning a protest and going to walk out of the game. The players, themselves dont deserve that. They only have a few years at school and having a great season such a shame for them to have to deal with this distraction.

Joe could have brought this to the attention of the authorities, But he choose NOT TO, for whatever unacceptable reason(s). He made the wrong choice in this situation, the very wrong choice, He must now pay for his stupidity and or partiality.

Good-bye Joe....get the fuck out of here.  You're a loser.

    Is thread a fucking joke?

Paterno  knew children were being sexually abused and he did next to nothing about it.  He knew there was a cover up and he did nothing about it.

He put the good name of his football program ahead of stopping his longtime friend from sexually abusing young boys.

How many more young boys had their lives destroyed because that old fuck kept his mouth shut?

Paterno and anyone else who knew about this and did nothing to stop it is a piece of shit.

agreed.  paterno isn't getting enough heat in my opinion.   they should string that motherfucker up just like sandusky, just for not nearly as long.

No follow up, no nothing.  I don't know how he could sleep at night knowing that nothing had been done and that this predator continued to be allowed to hang out with a bunch of boys RIGHT IN FRONT OF PATERNO'S face.

Doing nothing about it was akin to condoning it.  I couldn't live with myself if I did that.

Paterno is a fucking joke. He stopped "coaching" 25 years ago.  All that old bastard does is stand on the fucking sidelines without a fucking clue of what's going on, kind of similar with what he did with this situation.

everyone sits around and critizes Joe Pa, but put yourself in his shoes, one of your good friends/colleagues is accused of fondling a little boy, you are telling me you woulnd't want to be damn certain that the allegation is true before turning one of your good friends/colleagues in.

fair enough.  if it turns out sandusky is innocent, or at least upon hearing the allegations paterno made sure a proper and thorough investigation was done and for some reason sandusky legitimately came back clean, then i take back what i said about paterno.  i'm doubtful that's how this plays out though.

So if a guy that worked for you had been accused MULTIPLE TIMES of sexually abusing young boys and then you had another employee tell you they saw him raping a young boy on company property, what would you do?

Would you simply tell your ‘boss’ and then when he covered it up just pretend nothing happened and allow that sick fuck to continue to sexually abuse young boys?

If you would then you’re as big of a piece of shit as Paterno and anyone else who knew about this and did nothing to stop it.

i think Sandusky is guilty as sin, I am just saying that people are criticizing Paterno for doing the "minimum", all I am saying is if one of my employees came to me and told me one of my good friends/colleagues was fondling a little boy, I would probably do exatly what Paterno did, advise my supervisor that something may be up, Paterno didn't know if the claim was factual or baseless, if nothing happened I would have just assumed the claim was baseless and moved on.

Most people don't understand how delicate of a situation that is, it is the same with rape, you are going to virtually end someone's life with a claim like that, you better be damn certain it is true before you go running to the police to turn someone in.

I am strictly talking about Paterno, Paterno was only told and had knowledge of the one instance, where a GA came and said he saw something, this is as far as Paterno's knowledge goes. Even the PA police will confirm and agree with that. Now as far as the AD and others who knew it was going on and had multiple compliants, I would agree they deserve to go to jail for protecting that asshole.

This is true, but the cops are trained in this sort of thing.  They wouldn't just take the GA's word for it and run out and arrest Sandusky.

I will add one thing.  There are many others besides Paterno that were in the know (and maybe even knew MORE).  They deserve plenty of heat as well.

He knew about the rape and molestation of young children and did next to nothing. What he initially did was fine - report to the higher ups. However, it only takes a day or two to realize that the higher ups haven't done anything, and at that point, he should've taken matters into his own hands.

Is it sad that a legend is going out like this? Sure. But he's done it entirely to himself. He deserves all the flack he is catching.

So am I.  Sandusky had already been accused of sexually abusing little boys BEFORE Paterno was told of the shower incident.

Bottom line: Paterno is a piece of shit who, at the very least, put protecting the name of his program ahead of protecting young boys who were getting raped by his friend.

How many young boys could have been saved if Paterno acted like a decent human being and did something about it?

Assuming Paterno has a soul, I have no idea how that old fuck sleeps at night knowing what he allowed to go on.

Should the Pope be responsible for all those pedaphile priests as well?

IMO JoePa did enough to escape any prosecution by reporting it to his superior. He played the part of the snitch already, the onus falls on the AD here.  Granted he'll definitely get some heat, but in the grand scheme of things, he'll be fine.
